Do a European river cruise and hit several countries. Just an opinion not based on experience

I spent a good bit of my life on extended cruises, so I was always against going on one for fun. The wife finally talked me into it one year, and she figured out her opinion was the same as mine. We won’t go on another, but there are a lot of people that like cruises, so don’t take my word for it.

We love them and will be on an 8 day cruise next month. Alaska is a good cruise and completely different than a Caribbean cruise. If you do Alaska I’ll suggest go on Princess and get the premium plan. Avoid short 4 day cruise’s out of Mobile and New Orleans. 5-7 days are better and not as much of a booze cruise. Easiest vacation you will ever do. Go have fun.

Alaska is built for a cruise. Only way to see some of it easily!

We have been on several. Never had a bad time. I prefer Norwegian or royal Caribbean. I would say avoid leaving from cruise terminals in very democratic areas, New Orleans for instance.

Second Alaska..........don't like crowds either. Use the ship as a hotel, you unpack, sleep, eat, shower and get off every am to go on an excursion.
Best way to see the coastal side of Canada and lower Alaska.

I'd do a cruise again, but we're wanting to to an interior land tour to see the mainland and fish.

Take her on a cruise ............. a rail cruise across Alaska. We did one back in '17 and we both loved it. I told my wife we were going to AK , she said finally a cruise , I told her I wasn't going to AK to see ice bergs and whales. We flew into Fairbanks and worked our way back to Anchorage via rail , spent 8 days up there. We still went to Portage Glacier and saw whales in the bay south of Anchorage . If you go to AK via a boat and don't spend at minimum a week inside the state , you ain't seen AK , you just been there. The tour we did was through Princess Cruise Lines, they have their own glass top rail cars on the Alaskan RR train.

Give it a try at least once. Royal Caribbean to me is the best cruise line. But, they are more expensive and they have some ships that hold over 5000 people and I don't like that. But you can find one of their older ships that is not as big and try that. Look into a 3-4 night cruise out of miami or port Canaveral and that won't be too long. It depends on what you want but they have some good shows and acts and even night clubs if that is what you want. If you are looking to eat, be ready because that never ends. I would say to spend the extra money and get a balcony room. The rooms are small but sitting outside and looking over the ocean, day or night, is nice.

Same here on the cruise out of Mobile. It's not really my thing either, but there will be some stuff you enjoy about it... so don't let the detractors here keep you from going. It's probably one of those things that you'll end up saying "I'm glad I experienced it whether or not I want to return".

Been on two and going on another in May,the first was on our honeymoon and it was ok but not real fun with just the two of us,we went two years ago on my daughters senior cruise and had more fun than the kids did because there were a bunch of our friends on it so we had a great time, this next one will be a big family cruise with my wife’s family,in-laws,aunts and uncles and cousins,it should be fun because they like to cut up and have a good time,We always go on Royal Caribbean and it’s great, the food is good, unlimited drinks with the drink package, and the shows are fun, there’s hasn’t been any riff raff on the ones I’ve been on

Cruises are great. You can lay around and do absolutely nothing, or there is something to do every hour on the hour. The food is pretty good for the money. Service has always been great. We always meet some fun people. But I’m not an old grouch and normal people don’t bother me.

I enjoy a cruise. Don’t have to worry about anything. Do as much or as little as you want. And I enjoy the food. Usually pretty good. I’m not a pool person so I don’t go to those but did find a somewhat secluded pool on our last cruise and it was not crowded at all

Caribbean wasn’t fun the last time we went 15 years ago. Bunch of Obama fans down there. I would go to the pacific side if I go again. Maybe Europe or Italy. Alaska looks fun but I don’t think you can fish off the cruise liner.
