Anyone use the gaiters that hook on your sole of the boot and go up your leg. I like wearing hiking boots but sometimes the water a little too deer for where k like to get. Just Curious how waterproof they are or are they more for snow. Something like these. Click here

They hook to the bottom of your laces, not the sole of the boot. The ones I use are waterproof, but aren’t made for wading water. They’re for turning dew, snow, and keeping debris out of your boots.

I wear kenetrek waterproof gaiters with waterproof hiking boots for both deer and turkey season. They’re definitely not made for wading but I’ve accidentally stepped in way over my boots a few times and they kept the water out fine as long as I got out of it fairly quick.
This is mainly what I’m talking about. In the bayou there’s always a little water and a hole in the way I need to go. And I’m tired of rubber boots and blisters. So I’ve gone to liking my hiking boots. Thanks for the thoughts on the gaiters.

More Pinhoti boys up in here I don’t wear gaiters cause of that dude. Lol. I started wearing them way before I ever heard of him. I only wear them out West mule deer and elk hunting. Never seen a reason to wear them around here.

What rubber boots are y'all wearing? I've walked 8-10 miles in LaCrosse Grange boots and never had an issue. Most comfortable rubber boot I've ever worn. I cant speak for the others, but for me, gaiters are for the times I cant wear rubber boots. If I'm going to be walking anywhere over 3 miles a day, rubber boots are automatically out, same if I'm going to be doing any amount of side hilling or lots of steep ridges canyons. walking on tundra or through any area with tussocks requires lots of ankle support, so rubber boots are a no there also. I love my rubber boots, but they're for low mileage days where I just need something quick and easy to keep dry, but don't work on trips where we walk 8-10 miles per day.

I’ve tried thorogoods, muck, and dry shod rubber boots. The Rocky ones were probably my next ones to try. I don’t have an account with Lacrosse. But if I knew they would work I’d buy them outright

I got a cheap pair to try out in Colorado 2 years ago. Didn’t really need them out there, but wore them all the last turkey season because I only wear rubber boots if I’m crossing sloughs in the swamp. Even wore them a few times deer hunting this year if it was heavy frost or dew on the ground. Keeps the bottom of your pants leg from getting wet and or muddy and nasty. I’m like an old man with footwear these days, all about comfort and support. I did order a really nice pair of the T&K brand gaiters to try, but they were way more heavy duty than what I would ever need here in Alabama.
