I hope they get rid of every last one of them. Phuck em if they can't get here legally. We use 95% American labor on our jobs and we mostly do higher end remodels. I've yet to see more than a couple of Mexicans that did good work. If you want some sloppy shit thrown together then sure hire them.
We will burn that bridge when we get there

i dont need reading comp, because this isn't something I read. Its something I lived. This problem didn't just start. 20 years ago yall sold out and started hiring mexicans because it was cheaper. This caused Americans wages to stay lower. No Americans wanted to work for half price for twice as long. Mexican business owners would do jobs at cost and put americans out of work. They could do the job cheaper because 10 of them lived in an apartment and got drove to work in a van. Then they'd move their family up her and put them on welfare.People like you totally collapsed the blue collar workforce and businesses. Now you conveniently claim no Americans will work. For the 20-30 years yall have took away any incentive for people to work construction. Usually the ones saying "americans wont work' also pay someone else to do their yardwork. lol
So since you cant find Americans who'll work and your labor pool is being rounded up by ICE. What yall gonna do, start doing the work yourselves or find another job? I’ve never hired a Mexican in my life. I left my last job working for a family construction business because we couldn’t hire anyone worth a crap. Here’s the issue behind the issue. Communism doesn’t work when mixed with a free market system and vice versa. It’s very simple. The American worker chose not to take the jobs at the prices that the illegals were doing them. Then after the illegals owned the market they were able to get prices back up. They could afford to do it. The reason doesn’t matter. It’s good business on thier part. But you can’t blame American business owners for the issue of American work ethic. Blame the people with the bad work ethic. And you act like it was a bad thing for the American business to go with a better price. Hello? That’s why everyone works. Make as much money as possible in the least amount of time as possible!

I've yet to see more than a couple of Mexicans that did good work. If you want some sloppy shit thrown together then sure hire them. Like Pwyse said, you guys could name your price down on the south end. We have a certain caliber of person that we use on high end remodels. Has to be trustworthy, clean, presentable, eye for detail, and a good representative for our business. You cant just let anyone off the street go into a million dollar plus home that is homeowner occupied and start working. That's why I mentioned the background checks and said earlier that we could hire 5 guys right now if we could find them. They simply do not exist, at any price, in our current market right now. We turned down probably 1.5 in high end remodel work in '24 because we simply did not have the labor to be able to take it on, and still adequately service the other jobs that we already had on the books because we dont play the game of stringing people out. Those guys are like hen's teeth and finding them is a real problem right now. We've got some really good all American sub crews on the flooring, painting, plumbing, electric, CTs, and trim, but you cant find an American concrete, brick or block, framing, or sheetrock crew that'll show up, is reliable, or even worth pissing on right now. Used to be that everyone could pretty much do it all carpentry and basic construction wise, and they actually cared about the work they produced. It's just not the case anymore.

Just more speaking out of your ass like you normally do. You've said before on here that you work for a govt contractor in the defense industry. You work in an assembly factory if I remember correctly. Air conditioned and spotlessly clean, I'm sure. You probably come home clean as a whistle everyday. You work your 40 hrs and collect your paycheck from someone like me, and then go home without a care or worry in the world. I probably put in as many hours in 3 days as you do in an entire week. I'm actually getting ready to leave the office and drive 30 minutes to a jobsite with my partner to go drive in 400 ft of silt fence and throw down a trailer load of hay bales for erosion control, for the upcoming 3" of rain they are predicting. Why, because it's got to get done and we cant find enough decent employees to have someone do it for us. Everyone we've got is on other jobs but this still has to be done tonight so my partner and I will just go do it ourselves like usual. While you're sitting at home this Saturday, we'll be assembling and hanging RTA's this weekend because nobody wants to work on the weekend and it has to be done by Monday morning to keep on schedule for the CT install. If you know so much about it, worked so hard and were so good at it, why dont you own a construction company and why arent you still in the business? Cream normally rises to the top and the best of the best become the bosses or start their own business. I guess you are the exception to the rule. Hate to ruin the picture you have painted in your mind, but I paid my own way and went to college on scholarship. My first job was stocking shelves at a local grocery store down the road when I was 13. Rode my bike to work because both parents worked and nobody was available to drive me. Started working construction when I was 16 once I could drive. Was running a crew at 19, and did it every summer until I graduated college. I've never not had a job. Most of the time I did sidework in addition to my normal job. I've been inside, outside, at a desk, in the field. I can and do, do it all from handling books, bidding jobs, running the office, to swinging the hammer and running squares up the ladder. Really successful people are willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Enjoy your dinner tonight while I'm covered in mud and swinging a maul in the truck lights and rain. Got in at 6:00 and will get home tonight around 9:00. That's 15 hr day for someone like you that has trouble with basic math.

Was it your daddy or uncle that owned said company? And this car you got at 16 was that money you saved your grocery store money or your folks buy that

Ya'll are just looking at one piece of the puzzle and president Trump has only been on the job 3 weeks. You have to look at the bigger economic picture. Several things will factor in to offset the temporary labor cost increase. The so-called housing shortage was largely in part to millions of illegals invading our country in such a short period of time. Once we've reestablished our energy independence and removed regulatory roadblocks the price of gas, and more importantly diesel fuel, will come down. Cost of supplies and building materials will come down. DOGE has already found enough corrupt and wasteful spending to make a big dent in the deficit. I believe they'll eventually save enough to operate a balanced budget. I also believe president Trump has a plan to seriously reduce, or even eliminate income tax. Possibly property tax as well. Once foreign countries and importers are paying their fair amount of tariffs, that alone could eliminate the need for income tax. That's how this country was funded prior to income tax which was established in 1913. Legal immigration will be streamlined to allow productive and properly vetted immigrants to come in and help fill labor gaps. There's way more to this puzzle than just DOGE and ICE. President Trump is the reigning world champion of 3D chess. It's a long game goal. And let's not forget, we didn't get here overnight, we're not going heal our wounds overnight either. We're in this battle for our children's future even we may actually have to sacrifice a little, our children and grandchildren will reap the benefits in the long term. We have to stand strong behind president Trump and keep the momentum. Keep the faith! 👍 Well said! MAGA

good. I hope they send every illegal back. I hope the ones selling our country out by employing illegals goes belly up too. Same here . We was good before they opened floodgates. This is AMERICA. Come here legally just like I would have to do to migrate to their country. I don’t care who goes broke because they don’t have workers . You are just as quilty as they are for encouraging their behavior.

I think both sides are right and both sides are wrong.
Greed got us into this. Greed can get us out.
Agreed I think if and when it gets to hurting there will be a fast process for work visas and I’d bet a big accountability for said work visas. I’m betting this will all be very painful but necessary and will make us stronger in the long run There is no other country that allows what our leaders have done.

Now, to play Devil's advocate, I can honestly say that I have more respect for someone that will risk jail to work and feed his kids by illegally coming to America than someone that would rather let them starve in a shithole country. Of course, this is assuming they would starve wherever they came from. It also assumes that they didn't come here to take advantage of our welfare system, which way too many do.
My answer to them would be, just get in line and immigrate legally.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
