I do, and it’s probably more restraining than most everyone on this board. My job is 12 hours of staring at countless monitors and responding to real time system changes. I’m not supposed to be away from my desk for more than 5 minutes at a time. On day shifts, I have a partner that can cover the desk to allow a little longer break, but on nights and weekends, I’m the Lone Ranger. That part sucks, but the plus side is I have the best schedule known to man.

It’s funny how career paths change over time. The first half of my working life I spent in the woods, now I’m anchored to a desk all day (or night).


What kind of schedule makes that worth it?


Sounds similar to what I did before I retired....I worked 7 on 7 off with 26 weeks of vacation built in, along with another 4 weeks earned. Totally worth it.
