Recommend me a 50mm scope without BDC. I have a brand new vortex crossfire II with bdc. I thought I could get used to it but it’s too much clutter for my liking and the reticle lines are thicker than I like. I may keep it and try to get used to it but wondered if there’s another simple duplex 50mm in the same price range. I’ve been looking around but it seems like most are bdc

You'd be better served dropping the 50mm objective and using that $ to go up a grade in glass.

….or hunt a used Bushnell 3200, with firefly type reticle being a plus for hunting.

I don’t remember if I’ve looked at one in person but I didn’t really like them online.

What are you wanting to do with said scope? How far are you gonna be shooting?

At less than 250 yards bout any quality 3-9 or 2-7ish would work. I've always been a fan of VX-III 2.5-8 for woods work. My woods rifle now has a VX-R 2-7 , duplex fire dot on top. Perfect for my use.

An old Leupold vxii or vxiii -------- You want a nice scope, grab one of those Diavari scopes in the classifieds.

He's looking for a budget scope, along the price line of a Vortex Crossfire II...while nice, I don't think those Ziess Diavari scopes, at $1450 and $1275, are what he'd consider to be a "budget scope"

Meopta Meosport R can be had for $400+tax. If it seems a little high consider it comes with a quality pair of rings which save you money. So call it $300. And the adjustments work accurately. So you can zero it and hunt a season or two off one box of cartridges. That saves most people another $30+. Now we're down to $270. That's Chinese Vortex money.

If you don't like the high rings, grab some pipe insulation or an old mouse pad for a cheek rest.

Most deer rifles I see have lesser scopes on them no matter what they paid.

If tick marks on a reticle wasn’t an issue, I would suggest a SWFA. But, they have tick marks on their MOA and Mil reticles. I can ignore them, but some folks can’t. They’re a great, dependable scope at any price, but especially for $350 for their fixed powers.

There's several scope manufactures that have lost the short , range hunting crowd, IMO. I wouldn't hunt with the highest end $2,000+ , ultra clear, euro scope if you gave it to me and it had one of those military , man killin' reticles .

I started hunting with a SWFA fixed 6 power scope a couple of years ago and found out that I like it. I paid $210 for it new on a Black Friday sale. I used to shoot everything on the highest power that I had, regardless if the deer was 50 yards or 200 yards. Lol. Now I’m shooting an 18” gong at 650 yards with a 6x on top of my 223. I never would have thought I would have been able to do that.

As soon as their gen 2(has different turret options and a built in zero stop) 6x scopes become available, I’m buying a couple more of them. They’ve increased in price to $350, though.

Sig Sauer Whiskey 3. I’ve had one for several years and has been a great scope. Did a little google search and found a 3-9x50 with regular duplex at several different places.

I went back and forth and finally bought a Burris droptine 4.5-14x42 for my 22 mag.
Burris has a lifetime warranty and I’ve liked every Burris I’ve looked through. 165.00
It should be here tomorrow.
