2Dogs… it’s not that it is cheap labor. It is that it is the only labor. Or at least 75% of it.

So it's OK if it's knowingly illegal? It wouldn't take much effort to do it the right way . Best I know there's no carve out in immigration law for landscapers , framers, roofers and the like.

Someone please offer a solution to the problem that won’t cause a major recession in our economy. And I mean one that the powers to be will do. Licking people off of government assistance on a large scale is not going to happen and it will not put skilled labor in the work force anyway.

So you would rather pay higher prices on gas, groceries, guns, corn, and EVERYTHING ELSE YOU BUY… just to ship people out of the country that are doing jobs that Americans WILL NOT DO?

That’s insane. It’s not a “self serving interest”. It’s in the best interest of every American to not interrupt the American economy. How do you people not understand this??

Do you know anyone who has ever had major surgery........let's say removal of a lung because it was cancerous? ? It's not a pleasant experience. The surgery itself is very traumatic and the recovery is painful. Yet, people will endure the period of pain and discomfort because they want a better future for their lives. What I'm hearing is a lot of people who aren't willing to sacrifice a period of "discomfort" for a better future. Don't get me wrong, I don't like economic discomfort either. But......I'm willing to endure it if it means a chance at a better future for my children and the nation as a whole. Taking the less painful way out is why we are at this point in the first place. I feel like the future rewards will be much better than the present sacrifices.

Many love to say “they’re doing jobs nobody else will”. No, they’re doing jobs people gave them because they’d work for less.

Buddy I’m not saying it’s ok or not ok. I’m saying it’s the reality of the situation we are in. I can’t afford it. My kids can’t afford it. Me and my son in law both work in the construction industry. We will lose our jobs. Finding another quality job during a recession is almost impossible. So then we both are drawing Pennie’s trying to find work every day.

I’m just saying it looks like we are about to create a much bigger problem by trying to fix the illegal immigration problem.

If it’s just a little economic discomfort, I will gladly swallow that pill to get the illegal immigration issue fixed. I’m just hoping it’s not a deal where we die on the table getting the surgery done.

Another Great Depression is what I’m worried about.

I’m telling you man that is not the case. The utility construction company I used to run is a perfect example. I tried for the last 5 years to add on 2 more crews. There was enough work out there for 5 more crews. Now you see Mexican HDD crews working for the same price I was working for. They are handing everything with no mini ex on the job. And getting it done faster. They work hard and don’t dick around.

I'm in wholesale lumber sales. We have to keep up with the market week to week and we base our pricing off of it. From what I'm seeing, things aren't slowing down but actually ramping up. Could it be temporary? Maybe. But, if things continue at the trend they are on now, construction doesn't look to be slowing down. I understand your apprehension because a big drop in construction will affect me too. Keep the faith though. Things seem to have a way of working out and I believe good, honest folks like me and yourself will be fine.

A free pass is jab in the eye of those that followed the law/process

It’s also ingrained in Marxist revolution to bring change. Mass immigration changes the culture for the powers to be to gain control. We’ve been living that slow march for some time. Under Biden, Obama and those in control amped up cause they thought it was time to ram it thru

They FAFO it is wasn’t. Now we will see a resistance and I’m curious is to how much. The progressive democrats are rallying the troops. So far the rallying is not much more than just some protesters

I appreciate your encouragement Driveby. Praying you are right buddy. It’s looking pretty bleak here. Volume builders down here have slowed tremendously since the first of the year. And almost stopped in the last 2 weeks.

I was doing 6-10 framing inspections a day during the summer. I’ve had 2 this week.

Are the illegals being rounded up or scared into hiding?

Trump said he’s going after the criminals first and then if others are caught in the mix so be it. Especially those harboring illegals that are criminals

There is that personal benefit slant^^
Folks who do not perceive to have a personal benefit from illegal activity will not try to justify it.

Bullshit. That may have been the case real early on. Definitely not now. The vast majority of them will not work for under 200/day. That aint bad money especially tax free. They definitely are not getting taken advantage of.

Geeb I was just explaining how it will affect me personally. If the workers are not replaced soon, it will affect everyone in the US negatively. Some worse than others yes. But inflation affects everyone. That should be obvious in the inflation we are dealing with now.

I really don’t know how else to explain stuff to you man.

Good point , some are making good $ and you touched on the root cause now, cash not paying taxes . And for the employer , no benefits , no taxes withheld , no SS, no workman's comp, etc , etc. Mighty attractive , and in most cases , mighty illegal.

Bad loans to those who couldn't afford housing via " the American Dream act" It was banks play free and loose and the government facilitating it. Had 0 to do with illegal migrant labor.

Watch the movie , The Big Short.

I used to think everything was black and white. Wrong or right. Well the more I live the more I realize there is a hell of a lot of gray area between those two. At this point in time you simply cannot successfully deport every illegal immigrant living in this Country. There are too many of them and they are to imbedded in the economy of this Nation. If you can’t see the damage that would to to our economy then you don’t know much about the economy. Who is going to replace them!!! Plus, what are we gonna do with their minor children who were born here and like it or not are citizens.

So here is my plan. Feel free to disagree.

1. Definitely run down the felony committing ones and deport.
2. Strengthen the border and stop all future illegal immigration as much as possible.

3. Make the process of getting them at least a work visa relatively simple.

4. Key point in plan- DO NOT MAKE THEM GO HOME AND RE ENTER THE COUNTRY TO DO SO.
Instead, use the resources that were gonna be used for mass deportations and set up local green card offices throughout the Country. Lets get them in the system. They pay income tax, get Drivers Licenses snd insurance. Develop a data base of who has registered and provide them proof. If after adequate time, maybe 2 years, if you do not have at least a green card and still remain here, you get deported.
