Mercedes put people to work and paid good wages, those workers paid taxes . These primadonna athletes gonna hire anyone? They should give everyone a break.

That right there! How many collegiate athletes have employees? That is a glaring difference between Mercedes and other major employers in the state and these NIL players.

Are they gonna give all the other college students a tax break who actually have to work while they go to school? Other college students should really be raising the biggest ruckus about it.

So why is there NIL money to begin with? It's because these players have value.......just like any other athlete on the planet with a deal with an advertiser, clothing manufacturer. The money follows the athletes. Their endorsements, wearing certain clothing etc......

No but they will bring in money just the same. Look at pro football players/teams. Limted employees but a huge fanbase that spends a chitload following the team. College ball is pro-lite at this point.

So, you’re telling me that some 19yo nil dude is going to increase UA fan base, the team that has a gazillion NC’s and 2 of the most successful coaches in college history
BS.

Some creative accountant will find a way to exempt state taxes for salaried employees of large companies for the next couple years and I’m all for it.

College football is no longer an amateur sport. The NIL has absolutely ruined the sport and it should be called Pro Starter Football. And they should be taxed in their appropriate bracket just like my old ass is!

This reminds me of back when all the BLM stuff was going on about 4 years ago . Most on Aldeer railed against the BLM marches , then when Nick Saban marched it was A-OK.

Correct, as long as bama can win nattys, that’s all that matters. Can’t believe a few folks on here are good with this bill and 3 Republicans that sponsored the bill, wondering how they thought this was going to be a good idea

Not me. That's when I stopped watching any college football. Saban could have taken that bull by the horns and went with fatherless black homes, black on black crime and endless other black social issues with decades of negative results. Instead he bowed to the political winds and marched.

That is complete and total crap. It's income just like mine but a lot more of it. It should be taxed as such.

Supposedly it’s to give a competitive advantage to our schools when recruiting athletes. I’m sure these 18 year olds are weighing the tax implications of their decision of where to play ball.
