unreal....this has to be a joke. right?

No joke. Just not enough days to kill all does that need to be killed. I needed to kill at least 7 more this year. I had 4 properties that didn’t have a single doe shot this season.

serious question then...do u hunt with a spear?

Don’t even have the opportunity now because Keith prohibited it for the 4 ppl statewide who did.

If a doe is killed, does it really matter if it happened before or after she was bred?

It doesn’t as far as dead deer numbers

It’s best to killem as early as possible because
Why let them eat up food for several months that would be better for the remaining deer population.
Why killem after going thru the rut. Wasted energy for the bucks to breed the doe

At least I’d think so.

We have to end use of compound bows. Spear is the only thing that should be allowed. Really rocks are the only thing that should be used. So this is being generous

Is 4 months of deer season not enough?? Do not run it any closer to turkey season as it is now. Let the woods cool off for a few weeks. Yall go fishing or play golf!

And a Bred doe being killed is different from a doe before being bred is different how?

Waisted expense of energy for the buck/bucks that bred her
Food source depleted for no reason if you gonna kill her anyways. Especially in years like this past one

Not really any of my business but if you can’t kill enough does from October to February 10, no amount of days added to the season will help you. Also my opinion means didily squat because some would rather us not even hunting in y’all’s state. I would like to see a firearm season consisting of 2 weeks in November. Week of and week after thanksgiving. Open the week of Christmas and go to Feb 10. This is for the Zone that should be formed for the area we hunt. Adjust dates for different rut zones throughout the state. Of course this is the opinion of an outsider looking in. But I’ve been looking in since 2009.

I hunt with a rifle mostly. Too busy during bow season to get to bow hunt.

I grew up dog hunting.killed my first 56 deer in front of a dog absolutly loved it. it was a real challenge to kill one in front of a dog. burnt a lot of shells. the club lost land got down to 3000 acres and they voted out dog hunting so there i was with a rifle.i killed 17 deer with a rifle and the last few just absolutely bored me to death. shot gun was way more challenging so I quit rifle hunting it just didn't do it for me.the bow made it a challenge again.

the only person who has got where I've been coming from is mbrock in that what is best for the resource.

do we really need a 3 month rifle season with the explosion of hunter numbers?

Fine, we can keep a three week bow season. The rest of the season is dog hunting only.

You obviously are not or don't have any professional doe eradicators hunting those properties.

Gonna be hard to kill deer in front of dogs with a bow. We’ve got to ban all deer hunting with buckshot. Way too many deer hit and not recovered with buckshot on dog drives.

We non resident coonasses could fix him up in the first week of the season. Or so I’ve heard. Lots of sausage and sauce picantes would be had.

When we first started hunting in Alabama, we had a place by Georgiana that was surrounded by dog clubs. I’d bet that 95% of the deer we killed had buckshot under the skin or in the meat. We even killed a few that was shot in the face and still bleeding. Lots had eyes missing or big puss filled wounds on them. It was crazy to see what deer could withstand and still survive.
