What is the most effective way to voice a concern? In the past I have emailed the DCNR directly and reached out to the CAB members.
Why are public land hunters penalized with a shortened season and harvest restrictions? Does anyone know what their reasoning was behind these regulations? I want to understand the “why”
The season comes in 7 days later than private land. You can only kill one turkey during the first 10 days on a wma. You can only kill 2 turkeys TOTAL per hunter per WMA

They bought into Chamberlains flawed theory with zero scientific evidence. The thought process behind the season changes on WMAs was to prove his theory by restricting hunter opportunity on public lands. Originally they were pilots to evaluate results, until someone conned an outgoing CAB member into proposing the statewide changes. I figured that was the case. I did hear from a current DCNR employee recently that the dates on public land might be going back to mirror the statewide season. Matt, I know I might be pissing up my own leg but in your experience what is the best way for a public citizen to really be heard? A few years ago I sent enough emails that I finally got to correspond directly with Chuck.

I hate feeling that way, but everything that’s been recommended to that admin from the common public or employees has been discarded. It’s just the truth. I used to try and refrain from speaking negative about what’s going on up there and I’ve always supported the agency publicly. Professionally and ethically I disagree with nearly everything they do, and is why I no longer work there. Don’t care to speak the truth when it’s needed now.

Man that is a sad state of affairs but I appreciate the candor.
Hey, send them some direct feedback. You never know. I’m speaking from first hand experience though.

I just wish we’d keep the time like it is and not “spring forward.”

None of them care. I emailed all the senators before the vote. One actually replied. Piss on chuck Sykes and chamberlain. I’d tell em to their face. Matt you can also thank Dave and all the social media pop stars on YouTube too

Matt you can also thank Dave and all the social media pop stars on YouTube too Yeah I went to KS two years ago hunting WIHA areas and it was vastly different than my prior experience. I saw more rented Toyota Camrys with college aged film crews than I did actual hunters. It was pathetic. We killed birds, but had to really work hard to get away from groups of guys with their cameras. Monetizing on material conducted on public lands should be prohibited. I don’t care what anyone’s motivation is, it’s not a benefit to public resources.

It’s just Mind blowing that so many professionals and state agencies immediately began changing regs and harvest strategies before any science supported it.

Amen, that was what I said over and over when this started. The way that the scientific method was ignored is what produced all the anger among turkey hunters and managers.
