Looks like they arrested the whole crew... I'd like to know more about the dispatchers death.

ummm,
The manner of death was ruled as an accident, and the autopsy says his death was the result of the “combined toxic effects of fentanyl, gabapentin, diazepam, amphetamine, carisoprodol, and methocarbamol.”

If that person was able to function taking that kind of mix then it would be well known that the guy had a serious drug problem and would not be working on any police force.

Gonna be a bunch of criminal charges dismissed, criminals let go/exonerated and $$$ paid to them.

They recommended the whole department be disbanded.

Multiple officers, one officers wife and the chief all charged

I wonder how large the department was before this? Is anyone left or have they turned everything over to the SO?

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

According to the article the SO is preparing to provide service to the city although they have not been asked to do so yet. I assume that would happen if/when the city chooses to shut the PD down entirely. I would expect an emergency city council meeting to take place about the issue, though.

I’m just curious if they are even going to try to salvage a department or start over from scratch? I know some people that would be great at either. Heck, I’d even talk with them about consulting on this in a non APOSTC role since I am no longer certified.

A little bigger than luverne. according to wiki Hanceville is a city in Cullman County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 3,217.[3]

Not a large department at all. I would imagine that is close to half the department if not more than half. The former mayor was indicted not long ago and charged with several things. Wallace State Community College is there. Thankfully they have their own law enforcement.

I have never understood why every little town in Alabama/Georgia/Miss/Fl thinks they have to have their own police dept. They wind up raping folks traveling through for tickets...some of which are B.S. I have seen this over and over. What is it about southern towns? "We have 300 people in town....let's form our own P.D.". We have seen several finally get nailed, for their illegal robbing of folks just to fund the city. The Sheriff's dept could do a better job, if they just paid for several deputies. Got to be cheaper to do that, than staff a small P.D. and have multiple layers of management. I've lived in Bama most of my life and everywhere I go, has the little town syndrome. I think small towns/cities are great, just stop trying to be like the big dogs.

Was this the department that falsely charged Fingers boy?

Nope. That was Blount County. I live a rocks throw from Hanceville. Their P.D. has always been a little different is the way I would put it. My son in law has a close relative that is an officer there, at least for now. He sad the ABI came in to investigate the death of the dispatcher back in Aug. and they got suspicious of some things and started digging deeper and that's what led to these arrest. Cullman County D.A. Champ Crocker said Hanceville would be safer without a P.D. and I do believe he is correct.
