I shoot an 11-87 Sp turkey 12ga for the most part but I’ll tote my cynergy some too. I like raised rifle sights on a turkey gun and I like the weight of the 11-87 while I’m sitting next to a tree. I toted a franchi affinity 20 ga with the pistol grip a couple of times last year but I always go back to tried and true

I’ve been carrying a youth 20 for about 7 years, and took the 1187 last year once for nostalgia and my shoulder was sore from carrying it several miles

Winchester 1300 NWTF youth 20ga ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/bNXvBxLM/IMG-8353.jpg) I’d love that in 20 youth Those in12 gauge stomped my butt. A friend had one and wanted me to pattern it for him. Only 3” but it kicked worse than any 3.5 I shot and I used to shoot a lot of guns for folks to pattern them. That one in 12 and I haven’t forgotten it

I had one in 12g. Hardest kicking gun I've ever shot. Felt like Mike Tyson punching me in the jaw every time I shot it. Didn't keep it very long.

I own 2 of those. A lot of birds died and I never felt the kick. Toting and shooting the little 20 has been a joy though.

Shot an 11-87 Special Purpose 12ga with 3" Federal #5's and later Mag Blends for 20 years. Bought a 20ga 870 with 21" barrel off of 257wby when he was still allowed on here and haven't picked up that 12ga since. The 20ga 870 with 3" TSS isn't necessarily a gun I'd recommend for my 7 year old son but the recoil seems to be less that the old 12ga 11-87.

I toted one of those 1300's from about 12 years old till I was about 18. Never remember it being too bad of a kicker though. Funny story about it's fate though....... I called a gobbler up one morning into a road and I squeezed the trigger and the gun didn't go off. Kept slipping the safety on and off and squeezing and the gun just would not fire. Turkey eventually got tired of strutting at 15 yards and walked off. I let him get out of the area and calmly got up and slipped out. Went home and took that gun apart and cleaned and lubed every screw spring, and part on that slide and trigger mechanism, Put it back together and went out in the yard and shot a box of dove loads through it. The next morning found me sitting in the same spot with the same gobbler blowing the tops out of the trees. 10 min after flydown I had him in the road in the same spot in full strut. Squeezed the trigger and nothing. In desperation I waited until his back was turned and I racked another shell in there and pulled the trigger again as he straightened up on red alert......nothing. I stood up and shucked all the shells out of it, took my sling off of it, and then grabbed it by the barrel and wrapped it around the tree I was sitting against. Then I drove to Marks Outdoors and went turkey gun shopping. It's probably still laying there. Worst kicking gun I ever shot was a Mossburg. I don't remember the model number but it was a pump and had a really short barrel that barely extended past the magazine tube. The two times I pulled the trigger on it the dang thing bloodied my nose. I told my buddy if I owned that thing I'd throw it off the nearest bridge.

I’m done swapping turkey guns. There is literally not a gun out there, factory or customized, that draws my interest at all. I’m content and have been for a few years now. Roughly first half of season gun: ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/9fPZsbYD/IMG-4153.jpg) Roughly second half of season gun: ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/L6qfm2VK/IMG-1428.jpg)

Shot a gobbler one morning and rolled him but he got up and flew right over my head about 15 yds high, like it was in slow motion. When I tryed to pump another shell in, the pump handle broke apart from the slide bars and would not pump. I came very close to wrapping it around a tree. Went and bought another gun that afternoon.
