I'm not for it. In saying "taxpayer", he's referring to everyone filing tax returns. If it is decided that refunds are to be issued, then refunds should be a percentage of what you actually paid in in federal taxes. Not witholdings for payments to SS and Medicare, actual federal taxes going into the general fund. Didn't pay in anything to federal taxes, no refund. Lots of people file returns that do not end up paying a penny into federal income tax. 47% to be exact. I'm not for just giving people free money. They'll blow it all on vacations, purchasing stuff they cannot afford to make the payments to keep, and BS just like they did the covid money and it'll just put more dollars into the system, increasing the velocity of money almost instantaneously, which in turn will create significant increases in across the board inflation several months later. Honestly, a refund should not be issued. Everything saved should be used to reduce the national debt, with a small portion side aside to pay for the prosecution of those crooks behind it, for building the gallows to stretch those necks, and the ropes to do it with. A message needs to be sent, and it needs to be sent harshly, so that everyone understands. "Never again" Amen, if you have a hundred dollars taken out of your check every week, and get a 7k taxes refund, YOU DONT PAY income TAXES!! Gland to see this posted. Yep. Lots of folks hollering "Give me back what I've paid my entire life" They don't understand what they actually paid? Most folks looking at what's cut from their check as a whole. State, Fed, Fica, etc. Elon is looking at federal $'s. They also don't understand that like your example, that they don't usually pay what was cut when it's all said and done. They get cut $4500 Fed for the year and get a $3700 refund. You only paid $800. Most are just seeing $ signs. I also see a lot if folks calling for all of their debt to be canceled because of the waste? What the hell? That's some liberal shucks. It's your debt, you are responsible for it. Not the government I don't need a government hand out. Put the money towards the debt.

You put that much cash in the market and it will cipple us more. $1400 ea created massive shortages and price increases. .Folks would lay out of work for a week or 2 if they got $5k. More to it than that. The supply chain was stopped or put on a crawl.

If it went towards the debt would it not send inflation going the other direction and would benefit everyone

If it went towards the debt would it not send inflation going the other direction and would benefit everyone It will help the debt, deficit and inflation. In tandem with reduced fuel prices, it would make some headway in some sectors. Most of these prices on material goods are here to stay. Concrete is not going back to 75$ a yard, among other things. You don’t want to build a house and sell it tomorrow for 200k$, when the same house was built and sold yesterday for 300k$. That would screw up a lot of things. Lower the interest rate.

My suspicion is they are going to do it. I think Trump believes it's necessary to show those on the fence that the media is lying to them about Doge and what Trump is trying to do for the people. I think he might be right. It would kill this narrative that Elon and Trump are just trying to enrich themselves.

I think he might be right. It would kill this narrative that Elon and Trump are just trying to enrich themselves. This is true, but it won't help in the long run. If he does, maybe only do $1K and apply the rest to the debt. But, then there will be detractors who say he is not really following through on what he said he would do about wasteful spending. Kind of a catch-22 I think. I, also, agree that only those who actually paid taxes should get any kind of refund/rebate if he does this. Nothing will be fixed long term if we don't get the country out of debt and figure out how to live within our means.

Who knows if it is a good thing or not, but one thing for sure is it will get the base of the Democrat party to shut up about DOGE for a while anyways.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I’d rather get a tax credit than a dividend check. Put the DOGE money towards the deficit, and let me pay in a little less.

Yep deflation will be a part of it too. I think it’s all part of it. Too many overvaluations across the board. Heck I still recall $22 a yard concrete but houses were $25 a foot to build and sold for $30 give or take. Of course those houses today would be low scale rentals or duplex’s compared with today’s build. Our customs back then would be middle of the road today. The amenities are unreal comparatively Last concrete poured at the house was a little over $100 a yard and our friend sent it, they pour a lot. His contract pricing was in the $70s and wouldn’t let us pay him. Kept saying he’d lost the invoice. 19 yards

In order for it to cause inflation, there has to be a net increase in dollars put into the economy. If they're just putting the dollars into household accounts rather than sending it down through .gov and NGO paychecks, there's no difference than status quo. That’s what I’m saying. Theres no increase in the amount of money in circulation with these refunds therefore there should be 0 effect on inflation. It’s just taking money from one place and putting it in another. I’m not saying it’s a good idea but it’s not going to make inflation worse. Conversely, if the money is refunded it doesn’t matter whether it’s blown or not it, it will create more business for somebody in some sector which should stimulate the economy a little.

You do have a point. But it helped bring on the inflation

You do have a point. But it helped bring on the inflation Without question it was huge contributor to inflation but at this point the moneys here. It’s beyond frustrating that we even are having this conversation. We’ve been robbed for decades.

I can’t help but wonder why Elon And DJT haven’t hired some our resident financial experts for the DOGE team.
