For those of you that have been using FFS as it has evolved, ive been looking at adding FFS to my boat. I don't tournament fish and not wanting to spend 2-3k to get in to FFS. I was looking at the new Lowrance Eagle that has the scaled back FFS capabilities, but now im leaning more toward finding a used garmin/lowrance set up.

My question is would the Active target 1 or Garmin LVS 32 FFS be worth getting for someone entry level and learning. I know each year with advances the product gets better, but is it that much better the the AT1/LVS 32 to make a huge difference for a weekend angler?

My old Depth/Fish finder probably cost 189.99 20 years ago. I bought a new Lowrance Eagle" Eye " non account emptying" unit. No additional battery or cables
or transducers I've have had it out twice and it has worked without glitch. I now have a GPS which started tracking me on two different Fl lake maps without me
even asking it to. I've never had that. Just a dirt poor Crappie guy lookin for an upgrade. I'll try to post again after I get more exposure with it. I made my own pole
mount and put it in a temp position which happened to work out good. Can you see fish well out in front of you ? Yes. Can you look up under mats against a wall
of vegetation ? Yes. I was fortunate enough to be getting bites so I didn't snoop much.

This is the $1000 unit with the scaled back active target?

I don't know anything about the Lowrance, but the Garmin 32 is plenty good for a recreational fisherman. The 34 is only a little better than the 32. You can find good prices on the 32 used.

Yes. "Eagle Eye". 1K + mounting brackets and pole construction. Plenty of reviews online. This was a huge upgrade for me. Couldn't justify 4K and another battery on the Boat.
The screen is visible even in bright daylight which is a big improvement.
