What scope do you boys like on an AR for hunting? Thinking about setting one up for next year.

I put a trjicon accupoint with the post reticle on mine. It has a huge FOV and quick acquisition.

I have Nikon, Vortex and Bushnell on mine. All 3-9x40 except the the 4-12x40 on my Grendel.

A solid recommendation, IMHO.

Depends on which rifle for me and how far I’m likely to shoot it. Most of mine are Vortex PST. I have 1-4x and 1-6x on 300blk and 5.56. 2-10x on a 16” 6.5grendel and a 4-16x ffp on a 22” Grendel. I prefer an option with a true 1x on anything I tote where fast moving shots are probable.

If you're not weight conscious you may as well go big on the objective. They're plenty of room for it because you need high rings or mounts for ARs.

I put a Meopta Meosport R on my wife's. Works real well. Both the rings and scope are marked to line up to each other. So, you don't have to try to get it level. It sets up that way. They're good quality rings and the correct height for an AR.

I see now I gotta have a riser or a lot higher mounts on mine to add a scope .

I have a Zeiss 3-12x44 on my AR10. My 450 BM has a Minox 1-5x24, but I bought a Vortex Viper 2.5-10x44 to put on it. My 6.5 grendel has the same Vortex Viper. I may swap the 2 vipers since the latest one I got on sale and it has a BDC reticle which might be a better option for the 6.5 grendel.

I have found as I have gotten older, I like more top end magnification when hunting in the evening. In the AM its not as big a deal. Be sure to use a good cantilever mount, and get the scope positioned correctly.

My short 6.8 wears a Triji accupoint 1-4 w/green post. Does a lot of stuff well. I’m undecided on my bolt AR 6.8 I’m building….likely a Zeiss in either a 3-9 or 1.8-5.5. Likely the 3-9. It’ll be more of a stand hunting rig. Scope them life your hunting purpose/need, just like you would any bolt, lever, or other semi.
