Simply firing people will do nothing to lower spending. And may actually cost more when those people are In The unemployment line. Not everyone is paid from the same pool of money. Checks come from the accounts within the departments. If the budget is not cut, the money still gets spent, just not to the people that lost their job. This is a backwards approach to cutting spending. BUDGETS have to be cut to do anything. That will probably come later, but again it is backwards.
For spending cuts to work, we have to look at each expenditure and see what cuts need to be made. When departments have less money they will have to be the ones to decide how the cuts are made.
