Heres the elephant in the room question. How do you drastically shrink govt without cutting jobs? You dont. We voted for him so he would shrink the govt. Hes doing it. It sure dont sound as pretty when its your job or a friends job getting cut. 100s of 1000s of people will lose their jobs. This is what we voted for.

My friend is a VA doc and he is getting ready to retire this summer but hadn't submitted his paperwork yet. He wanted to take the government offer to retire early but was told the VA was not included in this offer and he was ineligible due to the VA being short staffed already.
Only firings I have seen have been with folks who were hired and still on probation. The lies and misinformation being spread about what's happening isn't just coming from the left. There are plenty of Republicans who've fallen to the narrative and are repeating their talking points. It seems no matter how much good is being done that there will always be a segment of Republicans who can't stand to see things cut no matter how bad it needs to happen. There are lies and misinformation coming from every direction. Cuts have to be made, But what they are doing is insane And reckless. It reminds me of Afghanistan, we did need to get out, but the mass withdrawal was a huge mistake.

People are paid from that. If they still get the same amount of money, they will spend the same amount regardless of how many people are working.[ yes that could mean layoffs, but it will be by the people that know who needs to be cut, rather than the indiscriminate firings that are taking place.

I’m all for cutting waste. But I’m with Kodiak. Take a breath, let’s make sure all the cuts are justified. It’s like they are in “shoot then aim” mode is some areas.

And how many times have we passed by a govt jobsite, 5 men standing there watching one guy work. Yeah, i know those are county or state jobsites. Dont you think federal is the same? Dont you think the same amount of work could get done with half as many workers? We all know thats the reality of the situation. It is what it is. Then theres the crazy inflated prices we pay for materials. Then we could get into the good ole boy contracts given to politicians families and friends, all costing 10x what they should. Theres plenty of problems. Drive to any construction site and you will see the same.

He wasn't voted in to just DELETE jobs based on Musks or anyone elses opinion lol. It has nothing to do with anyone's family or friends, it should follow a study being completed to see which jobs can be cut and still get the jobs done in a professional and timely manner. There are jobs being cut that aren't specifically individuals with less than 12mos employment that are on a probational period. Reductions in Force (RIF) have studies completed, risk assessments, impacts, and goals. Simply cutting jobs isn't the answer. Most career guys in the military have seen what the knee jerk RIF's implemented have done in the past.

In my opinion this complaining is exactly why we never win. Hardline cuts and a complete restructuring of the government was needed. Trump is making cuts that no other president had the guts to make but even some Republicans don't have the stomach for what's necessary. . I'm guessing he's going to get it down to what's essential then evaluate what kind of funding will be needed to operate things before submitting his budget for approval. I don't think it would be a good idea to submit the reduced budget then make the cuts because there would be too much opposition from those saying the funding wouldn't be sufficient to operate the government. Make the necessary cuts then show them we can still operate effectively after the cuts then there is no argument against a greatly reduced budget. Never thought I'd be the one defending Trump but this time around he's taking no prisoners and is keeping his promises.

Theres plenty of problems. You apparently have no idea what you are talking about. That has nothing to do with the people. You want them to get fired for breaking safety regulations because that’s exactly why you see what you see. And at the bottom field level you also apparently have no clue how govt contracts work for materials or anything else. You’d be shocked to learn how wrong your are. I

A study to see where layoffs are needed in the government? That’s pretty ripe with stank all over it. To b fair, I can sympathize with this a little. But a study to figure it out. No way. That’s the kind of crap that got us here. Exactly. Studies, investigations, blah, blah. It's going to be messy but we are at the point there is NO other option.

The study is not the problem. It is the knee jerk reaction every time they think they found something. Post some misleading partial truths and send people home.
