It's usually more cost efficient to rent a log splitter for a weekend if you're not gonna use it more than 10 times a year. I agree - I have enough other tools taking up space.

We built one years ago. I am not sure of the tons but it is a huge cylinder off of a piece of CAT equipment. That this will split anything. Knots don't slow it down. It will even split elma and other stuff that most folks wont fool with.
