Yeah...this could be a hard one to pass.
With no state income tax, and no grocery tax. I would imagine stuff like tax on automobiles and car tags and everything else will go up exponentially. Government is going to get their pound of flesh.

Florida property tax funds the majority of each county's budget. They would just have to get that money from somewhere else. The citizens would still be paying. They may remove state property tax and leave lower gov rates alone.

Cities/counties will get the revenue another way.

Your primary residence does not generate income until it is sold. Therefore, your initial property tax should never change as long as you own the home. My property tax goes up every year!! They do an assessment every year. Maybe I am not understanding what you mean?

They'd definitely pay one way or another. My property tax in oregon is around $2,300 a year but, no local sales taxes. With no income tax, no property tax in FL they will tax the hell out of something, guessing businesses to start.

One thing Florida gets is a lot of other people's money from out of state because tourism drives theireconomy. This will be who the tax burden shifts to if Florida abolished property tax.
Follows the logic of you can't tax your own people into prosperity.

Surely he's talking primary residence and say, one acre or less it sits on. No way they could pull off all properties.

We never truly own anything. We rent anything of value from the government.

They do an assessment every year. Maybe I am not understanding what you mean? When you originally bought your house and property taxes were $500 a year, they should stay at $500 a year until the title is transferred by selling or inheritance. Would also go up for any home improvements made during ownership. Current property taxes are based on an unrealized gain in the market value of your home.

This will never come to fruition
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

I like that Sir, however, fairness and common sense do not apply when dealing with the tax office.
