Not gonna throw stones. I normally have some kind of background noise on. But sometimes, when I need to concentrate, I turn it all off. It's not to see better, but to concentrate better. I don't multi-task like I used to.
As a matter of fact, I've developed a problem with information overload. I shut down if it gets out of hand. My wife and daughter are starting to understand it. Probably better than me. But as I've got older I tolerate less chaos and need more calm to function properly.
There was a time I could multi-task at a Kiss concert with a midget circus going on. Now, I do good to handle one task without interruption to completion. It's got a great deal to do with the cell phone that dominates my life due to my business.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

made fun of someone less than 2 weeks ago for doing this, was trying to get my work truck through a tight spot yesterdays and dadgum if i didnt do it 😂😂😂

A lot of times I would rather not have the extraneous noise if I am needing to focus on an address I haven't been to before. A lot of the time if anyone else is in the car with me I would rather have the volume way down or off because I am going to want to talk and would rather not compete with the radio (anyone who has been around me much will testify to my tendency to talk, probably more than most want to listen to at that  ). You could have just said "I'm a woman". We know the rest. 🤣

I normally use Waze for directions to an unknown address, which overrides any audio in my car.
However, if I am pulling or backing a trailer- I turn everything off.
