Kind of similar,

We bought our son a 22lr as more of a commemorative thing for his first birthday that he’ll be able to learn with when he gets much older, and planned on doing the same for my daughter but never got around to it. Wife brought it up several times but timing never worked out.

…cleaned out the safe a couple of months ago and was puzzled by a ruger 10/22 I found, just to realize that I bought it a couple of years ago for her and completely forgot I ever did.
