Thats a 40x50 barn me and my son built last summer to dry our wood in. Cant really see it but the back side of it is slam.full of lumber, mostly the interior lumber for our house. After we get the house built, ill have a great barn to dry wood in and park all my crap in. Its all a process.

Man, YEAH!!! One of my nephews had a mill. He built a barndo and used the mill to saw his interior wood just as you are. And he was in the tree business at the time.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Wiley, iwas not planning on sawing any of the lumber for our house. I didnt want to learn on our house. Ive had sawmills around here saw about all of it. I wasnt planning on buying a sawmill for a couple more years. It just kinda happened, a little sooner than planned. Now, the plan has changed a little. I will saw some of our house lumber, but not much. I just figured with access to some pretty good logs, some pretty exotic and some with some really nice grain. I should incorperate sawing lumber int my business model. It just makes sense. I hope in a few years my son is doing the big share of our treework and i can concentrate on this, farming and a couple other things. Itll all work together to make us a living. My son is thinking abut building a house in the near future. This mill will help him get that done and not have a 30yr housenote. Were moving toward self suffeciency, this is just part of it.

We had a woodmizer back in the 90s. At that time it was woodmizer's largest portable mill. Dad bought it in 93 and we kept it until 99 or 2000. I'm sure we're a member of the million board ft club although unofficially. I've still got some cedar mantles and cypress 1x in the barn. It was a love hate relationship. We turned a whole lot of trees into useful lumber but it was a whole lot of work too.

My grand dad had a belsaw mill and a frickmill. He would have loved the portable saw mill. He sawed lumber except during hunting season.

My neighbor bought a green one after watching me work an Alaskan mill all day for two days one weekend...those things sure make it look easy!

I did.

Go ahead and cut more stickers than you think you'll need. They need to be good and dry before stacking green lumber.
