If you're looking for value/performance, my suggestion is the AB AR-10 Warthog 7.62 suppressor.

It's ugly as hell...looks like something either your dog or your wife would want to play with....but it flat out works well on everything I've shot from .22 to .30 caliber. I run a cover on mine anyway, so looks don't matter.

6.3" long (less than an inch longer than most K cans), and weighs 11.7 oz. Full auto rated and short barrel rated for most calibers.

$480 from Silencer Shop. Can be found elsewhere...possibly a little cheaper.

What about Q cans? Was looking at the jumbo shrimp but saw a new can they have for 5.56. Famous last words but I’m planning on staying with 5.56!

The differences in cans aren't huge. To find which has features you personally consider best, you'd have to try a bunch just like with guns. Deer rifles are really all about the same no matter how twisted around the axle we all get. You could take the personal favorite of anyone on aldeer and use it without much practical difference.

The problem is it costs $200 and time to try another one to see which suits you best.

So I literally just got my first last week.

I love it so far. My POA Rouge ran like a champ with it on. I don’t know how “good” it is as I don’t have anything to compare it to.

Ejected brass was dirty, but I read this is normal. I had no gas in the face.

POI was dead on.

I use the SilencerCo Hybrid 46 on my 8.6 Blackout, which is a versatile, multi-caliber suppressor, and it performs exceptionally well on that rifle. For my .300 Blackout, I run the Dead Air Nomad-L, which has proven to be highly effective with subsonic loads. . However, the most enjoyable suppressor in my collection is the Dead Air Mask, which I use on my .22, offering impressive performance and a great shooting experience

If I could swap any suppressor right now with no tax penalty, I would replace all my rimfire cans with the Dead Air Mask. Best rimfire can I have ever tried. Out of over a dozen.

This is regardless of decision points.

Easier to clean, as quiet as any, quieter than most, mid-range price, quality finish.

Stepped in a couple years ago with a Sparrow rimfire and couldn’t have been happier! I move it around from gun to gun and it’s by far my favorite! I put it on a Tikka T1X .17 HMR paired it with a thermal and it’s a varmint eliminator! It’s not sub but takes it way down to well below a normal .22lr. The gun is a tack driver with our without the can on it. 5 stars for the Sparrow! Waited 11 months for a trust. On a Kidd 10/22 with subs it ridiculously quiet!

Last year bought a Deadair Sandman S also in a trust and waited exactly 11 days. So the e-file has gotten much better. As for the Sandman, it’s quiet and well built. I put it on a 300 BO build and it works as advertised. It’s not movie set quiet but subs are about as quiet as a .22. It did shift POI but groups very well. Put it on a buddy’s.308 bolt and that’s my next purchase. There’s no blowback with either. I like the Keymo mounting system. It’s fast and simple. It makes shooting much more enjoyable without the noise and no recoil. The 300 is a pig’s nightmare and doesn’t run everything a mile and half away.

I tip toed in and now don’t want to shoot anything unsuppressed. If you’re sitting on the fence, jump in.

Very pleased with my dead air mask as well.

No expert here, but I have an AB warthog that I use on a Browning A bolt 270, a Radical 7.62x39, and a Bear Creek 6.5 Grendel. This is my only experience with a suppressor, but I’m well satisfied overall. I have not shot it a lot, but my youngest daughter killed a deer with the 7.62 and it’s quiet enough with full power rounds that you can hear the bullet smack the deer.

Could still hear the bullet hit the deer with my 270, but 270 seems louder than the 7.62 except for the action noise on the 7.62 due to the gun design versus a bolt action.

There’s a lot more powder being burned in the 270Win vs 7.62x39

As with muzzle brakes, the more gas and gas velocity there is to mitigate, the more work suppressors seem to actually do. If you figure a performance ‘percentage’ for noise/recoil reduction, it’s probably a larger % of noise/recoil reduction in that 270 than that 7.62x39. The 270 is just ‘more’, regardless. I have an 18” 270 that shoots like my 18” creedmoor, with the same suppressor on either: the smallest of folk could shoot either easily. Nothing reduces recoil and blast like a suppressor.
