Let's do something useful for a change and try to make an informative post about suppressors since this topic has come up on Aldeer a bit lately.

Of the suppressors on the market in 2025 which ones do we have experience with and like?

Which ones do we not like or maybe would have done something different?

I am personally looking for a short model to use w/ 5.56 for hog hunting. Getting in/out of vehicles and just need this to be hearing safe that would be the main goal.

Most of my cans are older I have a couple Yankee Hill I've been using my Titanium.30 cal can on a AR-10. Their .22 on .22's. They have all been great but older, longer in length and possibly outdated by 2025's standards.

Here is my contribution to this topic..... I have a Bowers 458. I use this w/ subsonic loads in .45/70 and also 450 Bushmaster. I bought this for the specific purpose of being able to kill something with an adequate weight bullet at subsonic velocity. .45/70 has been a proven killer at sub velocity going back to the days of Buffalo Hunting in the Old West.. Can is heavy as hell and I'm not a fan of the overall setup when everything is put together on an AR platform. What I do like....I have been using a Ruger American in 450 Bushmaster and .45 caliber pistol bullets subsonic. THAT works. Really well. Basically loading it to 45 Long Colt. We shoot hogs with it off feeders while deer hunting and it's been pretty fun. Makes a little noise but the deer don't seem to understand what happened the hogs squeal and run off and most of the time the deer stand there looking and don't run. Will certainly breakup an afternoon in a shooting house watching does and small bucks running around. Also like the .22's in a bolt gun for taking shots at squirrels.

I'd love to have a multi-caliber can but not sure which ones to look at as there are quite a few new players in the market. If I could use on both an AR and AK platform I might like that.


What are you using? What do you like? Make some suggestions if you don't mind on a short 5.56 or multicalibe. . I honestly can't suggest any suppressors I currently own. I can't complain but I know there's better stuff on the market now.

I want one that can sit on my 308 and 6.5 Grendel. I'd love to know the shortest one with the greatest drop in decibels over unsuppressed. Surely there is a balance between suppressor length and sound suppression.

Have a YHM Resonator on a RAR 300 BO. My first purchase. Does ok, supers sound about like a .22 LR unsuppressed. 190 Sub-x are just OK. Wanting to play around with some 90/100 grain loads

Have a Sparrow on a RAR .22 LR. The cats meow. Very quiet with subs. Even quieter with the CCI quiet loads at 750 fps

Dead Air Primal 45 on an AR 9 pistol. First 147’s I tried were not impressive. Have purchased some subs to try. May move this to a 450 BM or if I build an upper, 338 ARC.

Q El Camino on a Ruger 10/22. Light weight. Need to swap it to the bolt action to compare to the Sparrow. Was hoping for a little more suppression than I have experienced. May just be a result of sitting on a semi…

If I had to have just one, it’s the Sparrow on the .22 bolt action.

Not as hard as people think they are/make them out to be. I’ve done the tax stamp process six times now (4 cans and 2 SBRs) and they’ve all been a breeze.

In 5.56 the Saker, Polonium and Polonium K all seem to get high marks, however, I have never used one. I have used the SOCOM RC2 which by all accounts is the measure by which most of judged......and "they" are claiming these are on par.

If so... that's dam good. About 1/2 the cost for the Polonium.


No idea on these multi-caliber pistol cans. Would love to hear anyone's experience with some of those.


agree with K bush if I could only have one the .22lr gets the most use.

I’ve never seen much point of a dedicated 5.56 can unless you’re just ok with dedicating it to that caliber. I love my SiCo Omega 36m. It’s a QD modular can that you can run in a short or long configuration, works well on all of my rifles and I can slap it on my 9mm pistols as well.

Very easy, if you use a local dealer they will literally walk you through the process, if you use one of the larger online dealers they also provide great support and help guide you through the process.

The guy I used, I literally just walked in and payed for the can, handed over a $200 check to the BATFE signed the form 4 and waited 6 months to pick it up.

I have a saker 556, and it’s a good, compact 556 can…..I doubt I ever buy another dedicated 556 or <30 bore can. My 30 and 45 suppressors work better on my 556s than the saker, due to volume. That’s got far more to do with performance than bore size matching, IME. 22subs are easy to suppress, so most rimfire cans do a decent job with them. Centerfire subs are never as quiet as most expect or wish for. I just aim for hearing safe and not too long or heavy. Unlike a dinner date, fat suppressors are cool.

Run supers. Kill stuff.

I've had mine on my 45/70, 300wm, 45acp 1911, 9mm AR, 9mm glock, .308 ar10, 6.8 ar

The only thing needed to run on those other than the can itself, is the corrent bravo mount from SiCo

We have 2 of the Silencerco Hybrid 46 cans. Great, modular, really good performance, but heavy.

Dead Air makes the best rimfire can, the Mask. If I could start over, I would have only that suppressor. Only thing I have tried that is close is the Q El Camino.

We also have 2 of Liberty's Whitetail integrals, both built on Ruger American rifles.

Next will likely be a pair of Otter Creek Hydrogen K. Lightest supressor under $1000 that I have found, slightly lighter that the more expensive Silencerco Scythe Ti and slightly heavier than the Rugged Alaskan Ti (at about half the price).

Need one for a 6.5 Grendel, any recommendations would be appreciated

I am a Rep for Deadair so I am kind of biased, lol. Our Lazarus Can is amazing for 556. It's actually a 6mm can but was designed for 556. It really makes changing recoil springs and adjustable gas blocks not necessary. It has about 60% less back pressure and the tone is awesome. Our new Sandman X is a Tank and will handle all the full auto and hard use AR platforms.

If you want something for a bolt or basic AR use look at the Nomad XC. Its light short and has a great tone.
