Because I was bored in this thick fog this morning I decided to load 3 rounds for the 7-08 with a middle of the road charge of CFE223 under the 120gr ttsx. I know it’s not the proper way to test velocities but those 3 rounds averaged 3153fps. Still have plenty of room to work up to Barnes’ max charge. I believe 3200+ would be easily achievable if someone was interested in that velocity in a 7-08.

Good info. I have some 120 TTSX to load for my 7-08's but I bought a bunch of the 120 VOR-TX loaded ammo recently for a little over $1/round. I can't load them for that cost.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I was getting almost 3200 fps with that powder in my 308 behind the 130 ttsx. Shot little bitty groups too.

I haven't tried it in .308...that's good to know. I have a few 130's....

I’m averaging a touch over 3250 with the 130gr TTSXs over Ramshot Tac. Very good accuracy also.

A buddy of mine has an 8lb jug of CFE223 that he has never opened and I've been thinking about buying some of it from him to try with either the 120 ttsx or 120 ballistic tips but it's hard for me to not stay with ramshot big game as good as it performs in my rifle.

I’m waiting on some Big Game now to test some 140 Accubonds in the 7-08. I tested some yesterday with some Varget and averaged 2799. I was hoping for 2800 so I’m happy. Tested for accuracy today and was very pleased. Gonna mess around with seating depth to see if I can’t tighten it up a touch more.

If you've got some IMR4064 it might be worth trying with the 140 accubond. The older gentleman that I learned alot from when I first started reloading loaded me some of these with 42.5 grains of IMR4064 with an average muzzle velocity of 2,850 fps. They were pretty accurate in my rifle but I was not happy with how they performed on deer which is why I switched to the 120 grain bullet and have been really happy with accuracy and performance on deer.

I didn’t put the chronograph on it but if the weather is not to bad tomorrow I will check it and let you know.
