Nope. It’s the statewide total. They list the top 10 counties.

Saw that too, but I guess that could be good or bad. It depends on what was killed where. It’s all site specific I believe. The state(s) still depends upon us to make the final call, somewhat. You want/need to hunt til February? Here ya go. Need to kill more does in this area? Here ya go. Just like several have stated on here, managing wildlife is easy. Managing people (to not be greedy and do the right thing in specific areas) is extremely difficult.

Right here on Aldeer!! These details are elementary compared to some of CnC’s graphs! 😂

Considering natural mortality is higher in bucks it simply skews the herd numbers.

I’ll agree with that, if that natural mortality rate is actually higher for bucks. I’m not sure how much that actually changes the overall numbers, or how they even gathered the data for that. I guess we take their word for it. For the resource to continue, we need more baby makers than bucks though. Just not more than the habitat can handle. Here’s to better habitat management, trigger control, and good times🍻. Unfortunately habitat is out for the largest landowners of this state. Maybe they’ll start making pine trees that grow bigger antlers.

During the 2024–2025 season, hunters in Alabama harvested 205,740 deer, including 108,027 antlered deer and 97,713 unantlered deer. This was an increase of 3,425 deer from the previous year.

Maybe this explains why I see more deer in TN? Should say reported kills. Are we harvesting too many deer in Alabama?

It has been answered several times. In a well managed herd fawn recruitment and herd health are much better than the ideology of don’t shoot baby makers. Looks can be deceiving when understanding a healthy deer herd.

If we hypothetically just completely quit shooting does......the doe population eventually would still cap out and reach a maximum number correct??
