Total is for only 10 counties. Nope. It’s the statewide total. They list the top 10 counties.

Basically 60% bucks and 40% does killed. 🤔 Saw that too, but I guess that could be good or bad. It depends on what was killed where. It’s all site specific I believe. The state(s) still depends upon us to make the final call, somewhat. You want/need to hunt til February? Here ya go. Need to kill more does in this area? Here ya go. Just like several have stated on here, managing wildlife is easy. Managing people (to not be greedy and do the right thing in specific areas) is extremely difficult.

Wuzz up?? where can we see detailed numbers like that for our state? Right here on Aldeer!! These details are elementary compared to some of CnC’s graphs! 😂

Considering natural mortality is higher in bucks it simply skews the herd numbers.

I’m not sure how much that actually changes the overall numbers, or how they even gathered the data for that. I guess we take their word for it. For the resource to continue, we need more baby makers than bucks though. Just not more than the habitat can handle. Here’s to better habitat management, trigger control, and good times🍻. Unfortunately habitat is out for the largest landowners of this state. Maybe they’ll start making pine trees that grow bigger antlers.

In a well managed herd fawn recruitment and herd health are much better than the ideology of don’t shoot baby makers. Looks can be deceiving when understanding a healthy deer herd.

If we hypothetically just completely quit shooting does......the doe population eventually would still cap out and reach a maximum number correct??

They’d be less healthy and then a disease would cut em back I venture to guess. Plus a WAG would include an uptick in predators like yotes. Doesn’t predators ebb and flow with prey populations Just curios if you have the ability to look at a doe and see that she is in great health nutritionally?

Im afraid your trying to drive a square peg thru a round hole
As fluid as a deer population is there’s too many Ifs, Ands or Buts that factor heavily into the equation.

Doubtful. They’d be less healthy and then a disease would cut em back I venture to guess. Plus a WAG would include an uptick in predators like yotes. Doesn’t predators ebb and flow with prey populations That’s not doubtful ….that’s density dependance…..Populations cant just keep on growing and growing…….You assume they will be in poor health with low reproductive rates, etc……but that’s assuming that food is the limiting factor…..Let’s say we have 1000 acres of prime NWSG fawning habitat……and lets say that our 1000 acres is surrounded by 10,000 acres of farmland where they leave 20% fallow each year…….Basically our 1000 acres of fawning cover is surrounded by crops and young “weed” browse……Now, if I don’t shoot ANY does on my 1000 acres in this scenario then what is going to eventually limit my doe population from getting any bigger???.....Food or cover?? Now take this scenario to Google Earth and scroll around the Alabama landscape…..Go to north Sumter Co since Snuffy brought that area up yesterday and it seems as though few does are being shot there……Look at the landscape…...That area is covered with open fields and hedgerows.....there's hedgerows running everywhere…….Heck look across the whole blackebelt…….There’s a lot of open ground in a lot of area……..If North Sumter Co doesn’t shoot any does are they going to run out of food or cover first??
