I can look right here in Colbert and see plenty of diverse habitat. Also bear in mind it was a rare day to see a deer on the east in certain areas until recent times. The neighborhood I grew up in is now full of deer. About 10-15 years ago dad asked me if I could come over and see what was eating his shrubs and garden up. Dang deer tracks everywhere. That was a first. Deer cruise thru downtown occasionally. That never happened in my youth. Deer and turkeys are filling in those gaps. The mid to western part of Colbert has timber management in various stages so that’s a good things for populations
Funny thing is half the hunters will tell you killed too many does and or there are no deer like it was. Then the other half will tell you that there’s too many does and they are eating themselves out of control. Lol.
It depends what n the location.
Heck at the farm you’d never know how many does were killed in the past years especially last year. This hunting season they killed their usually numbers again!
I wonder where all those dead deer came from? The habitat is there to support a large population. Couldn’t tel you about their health but they ate 20 plus acres of beans up and even hit about 7-10 acres of corn hikenitn as first growing. Don’t see it til I was combining. Didn’t have to spray much, lack of rain didn’t have weeds growing
