Then I took some pennies and weighed them, did ya'll know that 154 pennies weighs a pound... So, If my math is somewhat correct, that means 154 pennies melted down would get you close to a pound worth of scrap copper A penny is 2.5% copper. You're gonna need to re-figure ....... I dont think so... All you have to do is google it..... A pre-1982 penny has 2.95 grams of copper in it.... A pre-1982 penny consists of 95% copper and 5% zinc. It contains about 2.95 grams of copper, and there are 453.59 grams in a pound. The copper in each penny was worth about 1.7 cents as of Dec. 10, 2019, when the price of copper was $2.75 a pound. Modern pennies after the year 1982 are 97.5% zinc and only 2.5% copper...So if I tell you the moon was made out of cheese...best go get you some crackers...

They took his very last penny. Interesting story... When we went to Key West a few years ago we toured Earnest Hemmingway's home there. He built it for his wife and she wanted a pool. Well in Key West just about everything is built on solid coral rock. This is way all the graves there are above ground. (different reason than New Orleans) Anyway... He was the first guy to build a pool down there. So they had to excavate the pool out of solid rock. It cost him so much money at the time, that by the pool there is a penny inlayed in it. Hemmingway said that the pool cost him is very last penny.
