I know this pops up from time to time from interested parties so I thought I’d share a build I did. I found a Mongoose Dolomite in almost mint condition on Facebook Marketplace for $100. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/QxHK3gWv/IMG-5531.jpg) First order of business was to strip it down and paint it because who wants a white and red hunting bike? ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/J7THvYtb/IMG-5552.jpg) After that I had to upgrade a few things. 1. The handlebars were too narrow for my liking so I bought a new set of max width mountain bike bars. 2. The cheap plastic twist shifter had to go. It was replaced replaced with a quality Shimano shifter. 3. Instead of replacing the whole rear cassette and converting it from an 8 to a 10 speed to get a bigger gear and more torque for pulling hiills I bought a new Shamano 8 speed cassette with the oversized low gear. 4. I bought a Lekkie 28 tooth chainring for the front ring. For those not in the know, low tooth count on the front high tooth count in the back equals torque and vice versa equals speed. 5. Bought a cheap rear rack off of Amazon. I’ll bolt a milk crate to it soon to haul miscellaneous hunting stuff and/or dead turkeys. Last but not least I put a 1000w Bafang motor on it and a 52v 28ah battery on it. This took about 3 hours in my basement including securing the wiring which is the biggest headache. I guess I’ve got about $1300 tied up in her, but that’s due to me buying the biggest battery I could get my hands on. Probably could have gotten into it for $1100-1200 or so. So here she is in all her glory. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/QCnB7Cv6/IMG-6297.jpg)

As a mechanical retard i think you did good plenty of room for handlebar mounted grunt tube and I reckon you could put a tree seat on the rack. Haven't worked out how the case of Natty light is gonna fit but I'm sure you've got a plan!

I heard that BC, Thats cool... ...What kind of mileage on a full charge do you think you can get on a rig like that? ...And, I have another question: Have you ever just cut loose and kept the hammer down on one of those Ebikes just to see what kind of mileage they'll get on a full charge? ....Sharp looking rig...

I’ve never done that but the display has an odometer and a trip meter on it. I can get 30-40 ish miles on my shark tooth 17ah battery before it needs charging. The 28ah should get 50 to 60 assuming there is no issues with the battery. I just gotta ride it and see.

No. The display has 9 power levels that allow you to creep or get after it when you are commuting. The motor is capable of 1500 watts with a 52v battery and torque output is dependent upon two variables………. output setting to the motor (1-9) and the drivetrain geared on the bike at the time. As far as I know the motor has no way to sense that.

That's really a neat build. Do you have any close ups on how you did the motor and battery? I’ll run and get some shortly. It’s really simple though….. just bolts to the bottom bracket.

Would that handle a big boy lol 300lbs? I'm 220 and I hauled out 3 eighty pound pigs one time with my buddies little bike trailer so I'm going to say yeah. I've heard of guys hauling out fully grown deer with those little bike trailers as well.

Drop a few links for the motor and some of the other components for me if you don’t mind. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while MotorBatteryThe guy who runs this business is named John Lange. He has a YouTube channel under the name JohnnyNerdout . He’s got hundreds of videos about how to convert these things and what the differences are between certain motors and components. You can also use: BafangUSAdirect.com https://lunacycle.com/I bought my last motor from Luna but they program theiR motors a little differently. Their “Hotrod” program makes the motor 100% output all the time even if the power is on zero. I know a friend who with a programming cable and we turned that off using a laptop.

I haven't forgotten about you Irish. I got diagnosed with the flu over the weekend and it's about killed me. I couldn't even get out of bed until yesterday afternoon without help. Steroids and some new expensive flu pill they prescribed me has me recovering. I'll get those pics soon.
