He ran around 50 yards and disappeared off a bluff from hell. Didn’t hear a crash which caused some slight panic. I didn’t go yesterday expecting to even see a deer. My wife was with me in her first ever hunt, probably last if I had to guess. It smelled like bath and body works in the shooting house and we were in a food plot I never would expect that deer to slip through. The wind was bad to top it off, I had him killed in probably 5-7 seconds. A few more steps and he would have busted us easy. To top it all off I was playing on this site and Katie saw the deer first. I’ve caught hell about that lol.

The shot placement was luck, I stopped him with a bleat and he quartered hard at me. He was at a decent trot from the time he entered the plot Probably the most chaotic 10 second interval I’ve ever experienced. I had a huge buck about to hit my scent and a wife asking me to wait until her ears were plugged lol. Wasn’t any turning back at that point, ears plugged or not.

One of my best ever buck was an extremely similar deer and story. Except I had my wife and twin 3 year olds. Congrats on a stud
