That should be the ultimate goal of the reciprocal tariffs. I've wanted those all of my adult life. Most don't realize how many tariffs the rest of the world has against us, and it's one of the main reasons we have lost so much of our manufacturing. Some short term pain will be worth it if it gives my grandchildren a chance to get a job doing something besides cooking hamburgers.

Manufacturing is the primary driver of wealth creation, and when you have all these tariffs against you it's not likely to happen. If you are going to create wealth, you have to make something, or grow something, or get it out of the ground or the water. Long ago you could hunt for it or trap it, but those days are gone. A service economy creates no wealth. Service related occupations can exist only in an economy when someone else is creating wealth.

I think our future as a nation very much depends on bringing at least some of our manufacturing back here. It's ridiculous that we have gotten to the point that even our medicine has been outsourced to the third world. I don't think anything Trump is doing is more important than returning manufacturing to the USA.

Of course, the big tariffs against Canada and Mexico are to try to get them to work with us on stopping the illegal immigration and drugs. Both countries could end those overnight by just agreeing to do what decent folks should be glad to do anyway.

No matter how much the foreign controlled MSM tries to convince you otherwise, Trump is doing the right thing for our future on this issue.
