25% on Mexicans and Snow Mexicans.

Doubled 10% tariff on China to 20%.

Guessing these will be around for a little while.

I don’t fully understand them or how they are supposed to work/bring money in since the importer (Americans) will be the ones paying them

Tariffs inflict more pain on other countries due to trade imbalance. Wait and see who says "uncle" first. We will also feel pain and hopefully we can outlast other countries. In our country it's more about poll numbers causing us to cave.

Tariffs will drive up the cost of goods made in other countries allowing US companies to compete.

More US companies
= more corporate tax
= more competition for jobs = higher wages = higher income tax & purchase ability for workers
= more equipment will need to be purchased, etc.

It will hurt Canada long before the US starts to feel any pain.

Canada is also in a HORRIBLE geographical disadvantage. Transporting things across it is very costly. Vancouver to Toronto is a 40hr drive.

Tires will be going up very soon. As soon as the 1st shipments from china start showing up with the new tariffs attached. The other tire companies will follow suit regardless of where they are manufactured. If the Chinese stuff goes up, the major manufacturers like Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, cooper etc are going to keep the same price gap between them and the china stuff. They feel they are worth 25-30% more and they are going to collect it. In a lot of cases, it will cause sales for the cheap china stuff to increase because the Major brand stuff ends up out of reach for those that were on the bubble before the increase. I wish there were another way to stick it to the importers. The end consumer will feel the tariffs.

It drives manufacturers to produce goods here. They invests in US business and bring labor and jobs here.

That is what it is supposed to do, but a whole bunch of people will absolutely buy whatever is least expensive no matter where it is made and if current US manufacturers increase their costs to keep that price gap, then I don't see the overall plan working like it should.

I predict this going one of two ways, first, Canada and Mexico will quietly capitulate to what Trump wants and he'll lift the tariffs. I say quietly because their leaders want to save what face they can and have people think they stood up to Trump. Trump however will not let this be done quietly. We all know he will boast about his big, beautiful win, which he should if it goes this way.

The second way I see this going is it will cause an increase on imported products and the Democrats will squawk about it daily. In the long run however, when these products start being made here by Americans and the GDP increases along with the job market, this will be a good thing. The GOP will just have to weather the initial cries of the Dems. Trump can and I assume he will, help to mitigate the initial increases by opening the oil production to wide open, thus lowering costs that the public can see and feel immediately. It wasn't my favorite subject, but I did pay attention and do pretty well in my college Econ classes.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Most major American brand name tires are made in other countries. Firestone has a big one in Either Nigeria or Liberia. I can't remember which east African country exactly but its their major producer. Brazil and through central America are many US tire manufacturers. Started with the Rubber industry you know.

Its simple. The bulk of the Canadian government is on Europe or China's team. Mexico is still on our team despite the issues.

Goodyear and Cooper are the only 2 true American brands. Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental, Mickey Thompson and more all have US manufacturing plants. No doubt, many if the ingredients that make up a tire are still imported into the US and the tariffs on those items will contribute to the increase on American made Tires.
