Look at the dew point in Amarillo Tx. Go east say 50 to 100 miles and look at those dew points.

Give us the skinny on it.

You have big dry line forming. Dry and cooler air is under cutting the warm moisture and it rises. Thus thunderstorms form. Don’t want to bore y’all.

Mid 70 dew points along with all the instability means OK and TX are in for a long night.

I lived in Lubbock, Tx the first 40 years of my life. About 50 miles away is a geological formation called the Caprock. The land goes from pancake flat to an immediate drop of up to 1000 feet. Those gulf winds would hit the Caprock and cause those dryline thunderstorms. Impressive to watch them build up in a very short period of time.

Isobar map of this "Mid lat" Low is impressive right now, not to mention the wind map.

My DIL lives in Farmersville, just east of DFW. Almost every street sign and two TxDot trailers were blown over this morning from straight line winds.

Dew point up about 15 degrees to 53 (and climbing) since mid-morning and a stiff 25mph wind on the front edge of the storm. Still a bit of time before we get the squall line.

Looks to be picking back up, on the back side. The last squall line reformed after it passed us.
