If it went down like he said it did, he self reported, and this happened a couple weeks before the tournament, then BASS was way way out of line with the punishment imposed. If that's how BASS is going to be then roommates on the tour should not be allowed to room together. Nobody can eat dinner or hang out with another competitor. The two Canadian brothers (cant remember their last name) that pre-fish different areas and share information and work together not only to split fish but also split their winnings each year, should be banned for life.

That's how his dad won so many tournaments. He would have a few guy fishing the lake and tell him where to find the fish. Why the rule was put in place

Lots of folks already lost interest in that trail including myself. They need to go back to how Ray Scott did it in the beginning. Ten pounds of tackle and go to an unknown lake with no prefishing and see who's the man.

I love watching this old tournaments on YouTube from the 70’s and 80’s….identical boats, identical “technology”/gear, limited tackle, etc

I think I like it so much because I, too, fish out of an old boat without much gear and very little electronics 😂

I quit tournaments years ago. Same folks won all the time. Now these were wildcat tournaments once a week. Not big money. 500 to 1000.

Competitor's can share info

Years ago, one of my buddies rented a plane before the Pensacola billfish tournament and spent all day flying over the offshore oil rigs. He spotted a huge marlin on one of the rigs and was able to go straight to that rig and catch a winning 536lb marlin. He used a live blackfin for bait.

Point is, if it is illegal to get info from dock talk from a non-competitor within the practice days or during the tournament, then it should be illegal to be able to obtain info from other competitors too. It's honestly no different. Allowing it creates a situation where you've basically got lone individuals, fishing against traveling partners, or teams of guys. Two guys can cover way more water than one, and 4 or 5 working together can certainly cover more water than a single individual and in doing so, make sure that someone in the group is almost always in the money. Catching fish isnt the hard part, it's finding the right area and right grade of fish, and being able to stay with/on them for 4 days.

I don’t have a dog in the fight and not knowing much about tournament fishing all this sounds like a dam cluster like so bad why would folks even fool with it. I figure these type things go on all the time and having a fair match is probably impossible. I’m not knocking anyone that fishes tournaments but sounds like it’s getting very complicated. Kinda like yes livescope sometimes but other times no kinda stuff. Seems there’s no end to what’s the next rule. Again I ain’t no expert but sounds about like nascar making a rule for a rule to where nobody understands any rules.

I remember seeing some guys checking in for a tournament here on Ross Barnett and I asked you want to know where they biting and they all said no and I said top lip, got a few laughs!

Not hard to imagine the Martins having access to good local info at Okeechobee. Did you know that Hillary Martin, Roland's granddaughter, fishes for Univ. Alabama ?

I heard Matt Herren quit the league. I don't blame him, it is nonstop drama.

Didn't do her much good though at the end of Jan when she and her partner finished like 180th out of maybe 230 boats with a single-digit weight for the whole tournament. GomerJr watches her youtube channel (I'm sure it's just for the fishing )...she's got a few videos fishing with Justin Hamner here locally that are pretty decent.
