at one time and as I was growing folks would get out their "Sunday best" to go to church services. I see folks coming to our church in shorts and flipflops, cut off jeans. If that is what it takes for them to come to services that's ok. Just stating the changes taking place.

Yeah, “churching the unchurched” as a movement has definitely lowered the standards for Sunday clothing.

If the temp is 80 or above, and it’s not a special occasion, there is a 100% I’ll be in shorts and flip flops on Sunday morning. I go to worship and learn, not try to impress anyone. And if you’re at church and you’re worrying about someone else’s attire (as long as it’s not offensive) your focus is in the wrong place

I used to date the preachers daughter of a big church. They had the main traditional church then across the street they had a “casual” type church. There were a lot of them that would show up to the casual church on motorcycles blasting music and smoking cigs outside the front of it. It looked like a biker bar. I much preferred the traditional services

He told us to be fishers of men. Not to scale em', gut em', or filet em. HE will handle all of that. Our job is to get them in the boat.

I love how the generation that raised the “problem” generations love to look at and criticize. Hate to tell you that’s your handiwork. ( not necessarily pointed at you deerman)

Im still old school I guess. Pants (not jeans) and a shirt with a collar are what me and mine wear. I don’t mind when people dress down, not everyone has super nice clothes. It’s does bug me a bit when people I know have nice clothes show up in jeans and shorts.

I don’t think Jesus cares, just what I’m used to I guess.

I’m not one to judge, but I wear my best when I go. I know that will not get you upstairs. I was taught that as a young kid.

99% of the time I wear a sports jacket, dress shirt and jeans with my boots
As long as what you’re wearing doesn’t create a distraction by being revealing or inappropriate in any way and you feel that it’s appropriate to be in the house of God with then wear it

I know God.

I talk to God everyday.

God doesn't give a $hit what you wear to Church.

What he cares about is what's in your heart and that you love other people.

Unfortunately for some, that's the hardest thing...

If anyone in the world thinks Jesus didn’t wear the best Jerusalem cruisers you’re crazy!! And a big man dress!!! Todays dress code is all man made…I wear the best I have but it ain’t suit and tie… maybe some day I’ll feel comfortable in one..

I didn’t care what the folks wore, I just used to think it was annoying to have to walk through a bunch of folks smoking cigarettes to get in the front door of the church.

If you take it seriously, then you dress like it.

Respectfully, that’s an absurd statement

Many folk who REALLY need Jesus, don't have Sunday best. You may be looking at their best. I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd bet Jesus wouldn't care what they wore. He'd wash their feet. This is one of the greatest problems with the modern church. All denominations. People sitting in the crowd judging others. It turns those in need away. It sours them to the church. Nobody wants to go into a building full of people who aren't like them just to be frowned upon. Jesus would rebuke those doing the frowning. The gossiping. The judging. And he would embrace those being judged.

This is one of the reasons I have so little respect for most organized churches. Most attending are there for the wrong reasons and aren't learning a thing about how to be like Jesus. It's a show.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

If you take it seriously there’s far more important things than attire. How we live our lives and glorify God is whats important. I for one should be ashamed but wearing my Sunday best doesn’t move the needle.
