Who are y'all using for soil test/analysis? I've used Auburn in the past, just checking to see if there is a better option.

Most CO-OPS sell testing kits. You can pick them up. take soil samples and bring back to the CO-OP and they will send them off for you and you will get a spreadsheet back with all the details per sample.

I switched to Waypoint this year and will continue to use them. They received my soil samples on Wed and called me Fri to let me know they were done.

My local co-op uses Camila Labs. They do the basic tests for free. I keep some of their bags in the truck and just run by the co-op during business hours and drop them off. I’m not sure what the turn around is but I think it’s about a week. I just try and remember to request the results be emailed after a few if I haven’t been back by.

I've used the coop and whitetail institute, came back the same.

I use Waters out of Camilla GA. But Waypoint and Ward are other good choices.

One major difference between commercial labs and Auburn Extension is the quality of info you receive for only a couple of dollars more per sample. Request a complete sample that will give you base saturation and micros. The university labs are estimating CEC based on texture (which isn't totally wrong) whereas the commercial labs report actual CEC. They also give you the base saturation %'s.

If you want a deep dive into this I recommend the Kinsey Ag Soil Series podcast on Spotify and the Ag PHD podcast searching for topics like CEC, Base Saturation, Potassium, Phosphorus, Sulfur and basically anytime Neal Kinsey is a guest.

I just use the whitetail institute kit, buy a few when they do a sale on them. Last I checked, the address you send it to was the same as Waypoint in Memphis.
