Big KISS fan from my childhood years and saw them in concert at the BJCC in 1978 when I was 9 years old.
While I like the song Detroit Rock City, it helped to reveal a rift in the band. Gene and Paul wanted a more radio friendly sound and relied on the producer, Mutt Lange, to arrange a lot of the music. Ace hated this and reportedly threw his guitar across the studio after playing the solo written by Mutt for this song. I was at that show also. I was 10 years old.
