Ok this aint a bash just what I've seen over the years .

Lot of hunter set up wrong too . They set up to where they can see 50, 70 yards . Tom comes in he can see thar far too and hangs up because he can't see the hen . Why a lot use decoys .

I never set up to where a turkey has a clear line of sight of over 40 yards to me . When I see him he's in range .

You surely don't have to use TSS to kill a turkey, but there's no doubt that it's the best shot material and most folks who turkey hunt want to use the best. Someone said it's like fishing with a Zebco 33 - there have been millions of fish caught with a Zebco 33, but you will never see one in use at high level bass tournament. They are functional, but far from the best. Someone could host a tournament with a requirement that you could only use a Zebco, and if the money was good enough the pros would fish it. And they would catch a whole lot of fish, but not quite as many as if they could use regular tackle. It would depend on the lake, but they would likely catch something like 95% of what they would have caught. That 5% is often the difference in winning or not.

You can probably kill 95% of the turkeys with lead shot, but if you hunt long enough the TSS will be the difference in killing one or wounding one.

I have shot 2 with TSS. One with a 20 gauge 3 in mag at about 35 yrds or so. But that was with this choke combo that is supposed to be the ticket for an 870.

The second I shot with a 3.5 in mag 12 TSS load at about the same distance. Less pellets on target than the 20 for some reason, but, knocked it down with authority.

Be honest I like my 12 ga 916T S&W best . That ole cheap shot gun gun has been a work horse. I've killed them with 410 , 16 ,12 and 10 ga. Never owned a 20 or 28 ga

Been lucky enough to have killed a lot of them .
