Onions take alot of nitrogen. The first 30 days are the most important, the bigger the greens the bigger the bulb will be. Every leaf on the onion plant is a layer on the bulb. Feed them plenty until they start bulbing
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

The best onions i ever saw were planted in broken down oak leaves. A customer of mine had an old 12x12 dogpen he put his leaves in. The dirt it created had built up 18" i guess. He planted onions in it spaced about 12" apart. They weighed 2lbs and had stalks 3ft high as thick as your thumb. Sweet onions or strong ones? Did you get to taste them?
