I’ve wondered when this was gonna happen since they’re always traveling in groups and only certain ones may actually be shooting. I’ve heard stories of people being ticketed here as well. I don’t support this idea at all. What say you? https://youtu.be/uhFVvO03tcA?si=OHQfI9t_4XKAs0K5Edit: this isn’t about whether you like THP or any other YouTubers. It’s about being ticketed for “hunting with no license” when you’re not actually “hunting” in the sense of trying to take game. Maybe you’re just sharing a day with your lady or your grandfather. I guess most grandfathers aren’t required to buy a license, but you know what I mean.

He was wearing camouflage and filming the person with the shotgun. If that’s not taking part in the hunt , I don’t know what is. Also, he’s making his living off taxpayers public land. Least he could do is buy a dang license.

He admitted it says it in the regs. He isn’t mad about it it didn’t sound like. He even took ownership of the mistake. He brought up the section for public land and posted it. MS wants their money to be on their public land. Makes sense.

Least he could do is buy a dang license. This. Other states have similar rules. If you participate in the hunt, you have to buy a license. Glad Mississippi finally clarified it in the regulations last year.

Most places a youth has to be with a licensed hunter. The regs in Miss also make this clear. Also, I might be mistaken but, I believe the way I interpret the regs you need a hunting license if you are using or on the WMAs property in Alabama.

I agree that he deserved the ticket with it being on a wma. The AL interpretation that I disagree with is requiring a license for people on squirrel "hunts" on private land when no squirrels are harmed. They are just in contest for the dogs, but must buy a hunting license.

Least he could do is buy a dang license. reminds me of what a GW told me at Fayette Co Lake - if someone’s in my jon boat, they deem them “fishing” whether or not they have a pole in their hands or not … if you’re on public land/water, you better have a licence, period - it’s the path of least regret 🤷🏻♂️

So hunting with a camera because you are wearing camo deserves a ticket? I think it’s just a total money grab personally.

So hunting with a camera because you are wearing camo deserves a ticket? I think it’s just a total money grab personally. 100% agree....a dude in camo with a camera, with no gun, no calls, is not "aiding in the hunt"....he's just documenting it. That's like saying if I go fishing and MrsGomer tags along to read a book and "lay out" on the back deck while I fish because it's a pretty day, she could get written up for not having a fishing license even though she has zero interest in fishing, wouldn't even pick a rod/reel up and wouldn't know what to do with it if she did. If that were to happen, I'd take it to court and I'd die on that hill. It's absurd that anyone here would think that is ok, but that's what I'm reading from several folks. Why on earth do we want to give the government MORE power over every little thing we do?

Okay just some clarification according to Websters on hunting. I can’t kill a deer or turkey with a camera. So maybe I should insert photograph for hunting. verb 1. pursue and kill (a wild animal) for sport or food. "in the autumn they hunted deer"

I figured a man like you would be able to respectfully disagree with someone, but I reckon I gave too much credit. Since you brought up absurdity, I’ll tell you what’s absurd. It’s absurd to think that the little fella with the camera didn’t discuss setup location, or when or how much to call, or that he wouldn’t sit on a hill filming and texting updates to his buddy while he crawled on a turkey. Would you consider any of that hunt participation, sir? I bet the judge in the court on the hill you would die on would.

EDIT: I didn't intend anything I said to be disrespectful, but in hindsight I see where it could have been taken that way. My apologies if it was.
Now, maybe I was too quick on the trigger, and I admittedly didn't watch the video so if the guy was caught actually doing the stuff you mentioned, or admitted to it, then absolutely, write him up. But in a hypothetical situation where there is no proof and the GW just assumes a person is doing that stuff without any actual proof, condoning a ticket seems like a very slippery slope. That would be akin to a cop pulling over a guy in a Ferrari because "it's absurd to think the little fella in the Ferrari wasn't speeding at some point"...Why on earth would you want to set a legal precedent where a GW can write you a ticket for something you could've done, whether you actually did or not?

Gotta agree, the older I get and especially since COVID my constitutional rights matter to me more than ever. Other law enforcement has to meet stringent requirements. I’d have a real problem if my wife had gotten a ticket while sun bathing in the back of the boat while I fished.
