Loaded between tornadoes today... My first ever (in 35 years) 45/70 loads. 325FTX over 50 grains of AA1680. Should be north of 2000FPS. Whould make one heck of a water moccasin load this Summer. grin

Thanks. Looking forward to finishing the rifle set up and trying them out.

Not sure which looks better, the bullets or the wooden bowl!! That should do the trick on a few snakes among other things also. Nice crimps. What dies are you using?

Thanks. Normally I use Hornady, RCBS or Dillon dies but these are Lee because they offered a "Leverevolution" set that has a special seating die for the FTX bullets. The crimp is from the separate factory crimp die.

I thought it looked like the Lee crimp. I’m fixing to load some 30-30 round and also have the Lee crimp. Thanks.

BTW, those are Midway's "Factory Seconds" bullets. We'll see how they fly asap.

If the brass were loaded 10 times (not sure if I can get that case life), my cost per round in components is $1.03. Not cheap, but way better than factory prices. Normal production bullets are what I'd likely use to hunt with and will add 30 cents per round.

Those factory seconds will probably be just fine. Short range rifle and a heavy bullet should negate most issues. Did you happen to check bullet weight variance ?

Didn’t check for weight variation but they grouped into 2” at 100 yards. I was in a bit of a hurry and wasn’t really shooting my best either.
