Vanguard or Fidelity are pretty easy to use and I've had good luck with their funds in the past.

Do your research on their different ones that have the best 3-5 yr track record and then mix in some good stocks if you like.
A lot of their better performing funds are going to mirror the S&P 500 so you should be OK.

Call their corp. office and speak with advisor if you feel more comfortable. Just make sure you're not getting in funds that have high annual and transaction fees.
NOTE: There will be some fees with transactions

I use vanguard and do my own. I previously used Morgan Stanley before I educated myself on investing. I was paying 1.5% and getting 5.5-6.5 % returns. I rolled over to comparable funds at vanguard and I am averaging 8-9.5% with way less fees. Bogleheads is an investment forum that answers a lot of questions for me. There are some others on here that will chime in.

Reason I ask, I have a good friend that has an office with Edward Jones. He been on me awhile to come talk with him… waited later than I should’ve to start.. and I’m not well educated in investment strategies

Open either a Vanguard or Fidelity account and buy S&P index funds. I’ve been down the private planner and Edward Jones routes. Neither beat or even matched the S&P not to mention the 1.25% management fee.

Fidelity Roth IRA, if you're fairly young I'd put 75% FNILX and 25% agency bonds. You can do both thru the Fidelity Roth. Can't go wrong doing that. The only difficulty is you need to get $1k together all at once to buy the bonds. Don't try to time the market. Just buy some FNILX every month.

bogleheads forum is a great resource.

Stay away from Edward Jones. You have to watch them like a hawk. A lot of questionable practices.

Same here.
Plus I invest in some syndicated multifamily real estate and a few select self managed investments.
