So hunting with a camera because you are wearing camo deserves a ticket? I think it’s just a total money grab personally. 100% agree....a dude in camo with a camera, with no gun, no calls, is not "aiding in the hunt"....he's just documenting it. That's like saying if I go fishing and MrsGomer tags along to read a book and "lay out" on the back deck while I fish because it's a pretty day, she could get written up for not having a fishing license even though she has zero interest in fishing, wouldn't even pick a rod/reel up and wouldn't know what to do with it if she did. If that were to happen, I'd take it to court and I'd die on that hill. It's absurd that anyone here would think that is ok, but that's what I'm reading from several folks. Why on earth do we want to give the government MORE power over every little thing we do? I figured a man like you would be able to respectfully disagree with someone, but I reckon I gave too much credit. Since you brought up absurdity, I’ll tell you what’s absurd. It’s absurd to think that the little fella with the camera didn’t discuss setup location, or when or how much to call, or that he wouldn’t sit on a hill filming and texting updates to his buddy while he crawled on a turkey. Would you consider any of that hunt participation, sir? I bet the judge in the court on the hill you would die on would. EDIT: I didn't intend anything I said to be disrespectful, but in hindsight I see where it could have been taken that way. My apologies if it was.
Now, maybe I was too quick on the trigger, and I admittedly didn't watch the video so if the guy was caught actually doing the stuff you mentioned, or admitted to it, then absolutely, write him up. But in a hypothetical situation where there is no proof and the GW just assumes a person is doing that stuff without any actual proof, condoning a ticket seems like a very slippery slope. That would be akin to a cop pulling over a guy in a Ferrari because "it's absurd to think the little fella in the Ferrari wasn't speeding at some point"...Why on earth would you want to set a legal precedent where a GW can write you a ticket for something you could've done, whether you actually did or not? Gotta agree, the older I get and especially since COVID my constitutional rights matter to me more than ever. Other law enforcement has to meet stringent requirements. I’d have a real problem if my wife had gotten a ticket while sun bathing in the back of the boat while I fished.
