Recently acquired a nice Henry 45-70. USPS finally quit screwing around and got the last of my parts here today. Fitted a new (taller than the one that the rail was supplied with) XS front sight and added various leather accessories and headed to the range. The backup irons are now dead nuts zeroed. Other than a flashlight mount, I think she's done. List of mods: XS Sights Rail with irons, Ranger Point Precision trigger, Burris 2-7x33 scout scope in RTZ rings, RLO leather cuff with 1" cheek riser, sling and lever wrap, cheesy Dragon Grips peel and stick material for the for end and grip areas (Henry stock is SLICK without it). I've only shot one load, a Hornady 325FTX factory seconds bullet over 50 grains of AA1680 but it is grouping 2" at 100 yards. I figure that's good enough for a 200 yard gun. The load averaged 1975FPS out of the 18.5" barrel. She's fun (and pricey) to shoot! Thanks for checking it out. One thing that really worked out well with the scout scope and stock cuff is the overall balance. Its about perfect and, even though its not a lightweight, the rifle will carry well at the balance. RLO cuff loaded with "balance weights" ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-K3SXjMk/0/KhMTr5zPW66d8T2vSTkhFgjPpM3KdvC76NnzkqX39/X4/i-K3SXjMk-X4.jpg) Carry as the Good Lord intended. ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-MBT7hfL/0/LvjC9cH2WmdBgwXdv78X7KNGXbpgWsD2JKBMs2rZ3/X4/i-MBT7hfL-X4.jpg) Overall fit is good, with the correct comb height but I am considering shortening the length of pull 1/2". We'll see...

Is this for use during primitive weapons seasons where straight walled cartridges are allowed?

Is this for use during primitive weapons seasons where straight walled cartridges are allowed? Does such a season exist in Alabama? Would be awesome if it did.

very sharp! forgive my ignorance on this but that scope looks like its a couple miles further forward than it should be Scout scope, IER. Advantages: Fast up close and allows carry at the balance. Disadvantages: not the greatest in low light and no one makes a really high end scout (unfortunately). Many folks don't care for or understand them, I tend to love them.
