Communism is when the government runs the economy to distribute goods based on who they think needs them, through regulations. If the government can effect the economy through regulations that's communism. Capitalism, is private own companies regulate the economy through supply and demand. A dictatorship is when one person can make a law or a rule, like what we call an executive order! There's your 8th grade civics class! Not sure you understand what freedom is.

Well surely they taught you in 8th grade civics that oil is a commodity where supply and demand wouldn’t necessarily work on its own. I am a capitalist through and through but you have to be smart enough to understand that some commodities need governance. Demand for oil is astronomically high. And the supply is there but there are few owners/sellers. Due to the cost of getting it out of the ground, only the super rich own it. So to keep them from creating a team monopoly, there are regulations. Not to mention the process of getting oil needs to be somewhat governed due to its environmental impact.

If the sellers can affect the economy by getting together and manipulating the supply, is that capitalism?

I also believe the education system was designed to weed out free thinkers and people who can do for themselves. I bet you did well in college pwyse. Let's just put aside the propaganda for a moment and just look at facts.
Free market means no government regulations
Supply and demand means prices are set on that
Make it on your own means, you need no help from government

Let's take gas since you brought it up! I don't care if gas goes to $70 a gallon, you know why. I'll make it one my own some how, even if I have to ride a horse. Furthermore, if they would quit stealing half my hard earned money, I could afford to pay double what gas prices are. Also the dead beats who have nothing else to do but steal,smoke dope, and burn crap down wouldn't have any assistance. Meaning at least 30% of this country wouldn't be able to afford a car if they had to make it on their own. Therfore demand would go down, therefore prices would go down!

Freedom: one of the greatest advertised freedoms in this country is our right to own land.well if you work all your life to buy a piece of land worth Let's say, half a million, and your taxes are 1k a year, miss paying your taxes twice and they take away your land for 2k! Furthermore come up with a plan to pay your 1k a year, some jackass builds a million dollar house across the road from you and your taxes double! Is that really free to own property? And the list goes on for ever, and it NEVER changes no matter who gets elected.
