Saw 3 Jakes and had Tom gobble 5 times to my call from across the creek. He was getting closer each time. He went silent. I'm new to this turkey hunting thing and I probably called more than I should have. I figure he finally got close enough to tell there wasn't something quite right about my calling. It was a beautiful morning in the woods. Now off to work to pay for yet another obsession

Had a clean miss , didn't cut a feather at 40 yds, in the wide open at 6:50. Sick!!
One in my hands at 8:00. He did exactly like he was supposed to.
Beautiful morning the Lord blessed me with in the turkey woods. 10" beard , 1 1/2 spurs. didn't have a scale but he was over 20lbs im sure. Top three I have had the luck of taking.

Took my 12yo grandson and a friend of his (first turkey hunt). Grandson killed a two year old with 7 inch beard and hardly any spurs. Exciting morning. Was working a couple gobbling birds behind us. First, four jakes came in and two got within 3 yards of us. About 30 minutes later, a whole flock with two gobblers just appeared in front of us with no warning. Gobblers nor hens ever said a word. The one he killed and his twin put on a show. They were bowed up with about ten hens at 25 yards. Grandson did a great job of slowly getting his gun in position to shoot after the surprise appearance. We heard three gobbling and the two silent turkeys. We hunted youth day Saturday and never heard a peep on the property. Just goes to show that some mornings they just don't want to talk.
