No, this isn’t a hump day thread. Had birds all kind of close this morning. It was a day to remember, let a small gobbler with scraggly beard walk, he was showing out, maybe 6” beard, certainly not a Jake, bigger gobbler came and fought him, then he showed out. With the fog, I couldn’t estimate the distance well with my old eyes, let him walk, he strutted and drummed, man what a show. Hens fed around for who knows what, then a couple of them would get into it. Then, he shows back up or was another, fog had burned off. I broke a bunch of rules of him: moved my gun while he was facing me; shot at him while still in full strut; had wrapped the old model 12 so well I couldn’t pump another shell; 9.5” beard, 2” spurs, thank you Lord for blessing me, only through answered prayers. It certainly wasn’t through me. I only clicked three or four times to make the hens come back. They were all, hens and gobblers talking it up this morning, I was just in the right woods spot for them to feed. Being in the right place can certainly replace great calling. Thank you Lord, what a show.

2” spurs is close to the Alabama record, if not the record. I can only remember one set of 2” Bama spurs and that was Gary Vines. Congrats on doing something that may have been done 2-3 times in the history of Bama turkey hunting. That’s quite an accomplishment.

I haven’t posted pics. I don’t really use outside sources like that. They were huge for sure. I couldn’t understand the small beard. I’ve killed two year olds with knubs that had 10 1/4 101/2 beards through the years.

killed one with 1.5" spurs yesterday, my best in 35yrs of hunting them. I've heard of 2" but never seen them. Post it up and congrats!
