I was there in 1984. The BJCC used to have great concerts. Not like shit shows they have now. Old Boutwell used to rock also.

Before Ed died there was talk of them getting back together. Sammy and David would both be joining them

What was the tour before 1984 when they played Huntsville? DLR was srunk/stoned and forgot the lyrics on a few songs.

I liked Van Halen’s music with either at Lead vocals. I was a Kid growing up then and was liking Van Halen’s music with either of them.

That would have been the Diver Down tour.

The original band with DLR was the best. Sammy commercialized them and their music was more pop music. Not even close imo.

I heard Sammy say Dave had the attitude, he had the range.
There’s a few Sammy songs I like but for me, it’s DLR for the win. It’s also the early VH music which I like the best.

I was at the 1984 BJCC as well. Down front. I had the hottest girl at Vestavia Hills High on my shoulders. Her boyfriend was a little guy and she wanted to see. She was on my shoulders the whole concert. I was in heaven! It was Paige Patterson for those who want to know.

Oh and I like Sammy Hagar and Van Halen with him there. And DLR was a tool and ruined the band but Van Halen was legendary and Van Hagar was decent.

I liked Sammy better as the lead singer.

Sammy all day long! Early Van Halen rocked, then they went commercial. 1984 album started it.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I believe half of Aldeer must have been there. I was there with my soon to be GF and a friend of hers. They said they'd buy my ticket. No brainer for me.

Add another that was there for 1984. I was a HS freshman in the nose bleeds. Paige was two years ahead of me and she was stunning.

DLR was good, but his ego was hell. SH has a "lets just rock" about him that I like. EVH was what I wanted to see the most.

The cradle will rock was the 1st VH song I ever heard at scout camp. I was blown away. Never saw them live but had all the cassettes/albums to 1984. Never cared much for them after DLR left.

The first concert I ever attended was the 1984 tour at the BJCC

Me and 10 of my college friends drove from Livingston University in my van to see that concert. Good times. As for who I like better, I'd say it this way. I like Sammy better as a person than I do Roth. Roth is both strange and egotistical. But I still prefer early Van Halen. Van Halen through about their first 3 albums was a band powerful enough to turn goat piss into gasoline.
