Can they be ran off of a bulk propane tank? Natural gas isn’t available where I’m at. I thought about diesel but read diesel goes bad in bulk storage in about 6-12 months and didn’t want to foil with that either.

Yes they can. The thing to look for when picking one is most watts at lowest RPMs. Makes a big difference in fuel consumption.

i always liked the isea of dual fuel generators. But I really dont know.
I do know that if you plan on using a generator to run electronic devices, you need a certain type of gennie.

I do know that if you plan on using a generator to run electronic devices, you need a certain type of gennie. Shouldn't be an issue with a whole house generator. There are very few devices now that won't run on a generator. What you said was true years ago though. A lot of things didn't like the square wave as opposed to a pure sine wave. Generators are better and power supplies are more forgiving now.

I remember reading something about the sine wave and also if the gennie rpm was tied to gennie output ie reduced rpm = lower voltage output. Makes sense they would now take that into consideration since just about everything has electronics i it now adays

Lots of tower sites out there running 50-100 kw units on tanks. 100 kw doing a 20 min weekly exercise with general outages will run a long time on two 250 gallon tanks. A year or more unless you have an extended outage. With that said, I highly doubt you would need a 100 kw unit.
