Thanks goodness. Along this discussion I was talking to a friend of mine that brought up a good point about DOGE. He mentioned that while he understood the government workforce cuts that have been made he really wants to see cuts that affect government contracts. Those are where he and I both believe our tax dollars are being spent and only the rich get richer. I think the USAID is a good example and it will likely take more time but hopefully they will start to evaluate individual contracts to see which ones actually are useful and which ones are for “$10,000” toilet seats or other nonsense.

“According to Rubio, the department is "reorienting" the agency's foreign assistance programs, and will continue its "essential lifesaving programs”

So it seems as if some of the funds this organization used will still go to foreign nations. I wish we would shut it down and redirect those funds somewhere at home.

My understanding is there are some useful parts of USAID that just needed to be moved over to the State Department for management and oversight, which they did not have while at USAID. Spreading money around to other countries is what keeps them giving us valuable info, accepting deportees, allowing military overflights of countries etc...
